She'd never say this aloud, but Quinn was nervous that the all vegan menu might be too much for their non-vegan friends. She really hoped they'd enjoy the vegan pizzas, spicy chickpea snacks, pasta salad, black bean burgers, cookies and assortment of baked breads would go over well.

Brittany nodded to herself as she munched on the vegan pizza. It wasn't as gross as she expected. She smiled. Maybe I'll go vegan, too. Then, she thought of giving up bacon and frowned. Never. she promised herself.

Rachel sidled up next to Brittany. "The food's great! I have to say, Quinn outdid herself. I never thought she'd be able to find so many vegan products, let alone go near them." Rachel smiled as she picked up a slice of pizza and bringing it to her mouth.

"Rachel!" Brittany grinned. "Quinn's looking for you, I think. How are you? You look great. And so pregnant!" She smiled as she took a bite of the pizza. "I love babies," she added.

Rachel leaned forward and kissed Brittany's cheek. "I remember you once letting us all know you threw one out with the bath water once," Rachel said with a grin. "I hope when I inevitably ask you to babysit, you won't o the same?" Rachel joked. Before she let Brittany answer she heard Quinn calling for her from another room of the house. "Oh! I'll catch up with you soon. I promise. I need to find Quinn, though."

Santana took a deep breath as she broke Lola's hold. The calm feeling that came with seeing Quinn had fled immediately and was replaced with fear. Get a grip, Lopez she instructed herself. Get some food and get a goddamn grip.

She spotted the food across the room and beelined for it, her stomach growling. She reached for a piece of pizza and froze.

Brittany noticed a tan hand going for the pizza and chuckled. "Hey, E-" She froze. It wasn't Emma. And somehow, six years later, she couldn't mistake that face. How could she? It had haunted her all those years she'd been gone. And there she was. Santana Lopez. Brittany let out the breath she hadn't even realized she'd been holding.

"Hi," she breathed.

Santana inhaled sharply, her hand falling to her side limply. Brittany was standing in front of her. Living, breathing, non dream-haunting Brittany was standing in front of her.

"Hi," she said quietly after a moment. She cleared her throat and tried again. "Hi."

Brittany could barely breathe. It took her a moment to acknowledge that Santana had said anything. She opened her mouth to reply, but no sound came out.

"I need to go," she said, pushing past the other woman, moving as quickly as her legs would carry her. All her mind could think was, Santana Lopez. She's here. She came home. She came back.

After setting their present on the table Emma went in search of Brittany. As she passed the food table she slowed looking at the options bumping lightly into the back of someone. "Excuse me" she said turning her attention to the person she'd bumped into, freezing as the person turned to her.

Oh my god

"What...what're you doing here?" Emma said pulling her attention away from Santana searching the many faces their for Brittany's.

Does she know she's here?

"Me?" Santana frowned at Emma, her mind still a little hazy from Brittany's abrupt departure. "Rachel's my best friend. What the hell are you doing here?"

"I..." Emma stumbled her mind reeling. I need to find Brittany was basically the only coherent thought in her head at the moment. "I'm...a new friend of Rachel's." she finally said.

The fog in her head finally dissipated as she focused on the girl in front of her, on her client. It clicked in one, slow instant. Rachel on the phone, talking about her new friend, Emma. Rachel telling her about Brittany's new girlfriend, Emma. Emma, a few years behind them in school. Emma, a photographer.

"You-you," she stammered. "You're Emma."

Emma took in a deep breath, running a hand through her hair, "I..." her hand dropped to her side as she looked away from Santana "this is such a mess" she mumbled shaking her head, she looked back up to meet the brown eyes staring intently at her, "I'm..Emma." she nodded.

Santana deflated. "You're Emma," she repeated. "You're herEmma." Santana took a step back, trying to put some distance between them. Her eyes narrowed and she stepped forward again, suddenly on the offensive. "You knew. You came to my office and you signed a contract and the whole time, you knew, didn't you?" She mirrored Emma's action, running her hand through her hair. "Oh my God," she breathed.

"Yes I knew" Emma replied stepping forward to meet Santana, keeping her voice low even though she could feel the tension rising between them,"I know that you are one of the most sought after publishers in the American literary circle. I lov-" she cut herself short seeing the look on Santana's face,"there are things I want to do in my life and yes, now there are people in my life who make wanting those things...harder. But that's not going to keep myself from getting them, from doing whatever it takes. I think out of everyone here you know what that type of dedication allows you to do."
