Puck smiled. "There's history in this truck, man. You can't just toss out history." She pat the side of the rusting paint.
"I'm sure between you and Burt, this truck will be the baddest truck there ever was. Plus, I can be handy with tools if you'll let me."
Puck grinned at the thought of the two of them being filled with testosterone or something and fixing up the truck during the summer. Plus, if it got fixed, automatic cool points with chicks. Seriously. That or a motorcycle, and Momma Puckerman was definitely not letting Puck get her hands on a motorcycle.
Finn nodded, expecting that, remembering when it was Lily's big brother who had driven this truck. Thinking of Puck was always bittersweet, but these days he found himself wishing he could see his old friend more than he wished he could kill him.
Not that that meant he didn't want to kill him.
"And Kurt too, if he comes home. He and Burt taught me everything I know." He grabbed a towel and wiped his hands off, slinging it up to rest on his shoulder as he approached Lily-Puck. "We could make it a project even."
He turned back to the truck, considering, his hand leaving black smudges on his chin. "It is gonna cost some money though."
"Finn," Puck grinned, "Money will not be an issue. I have sixteen years worth of birthday and Hanukkah money saved up for an epic event such as this. I knew saving up would be worth it, and this is definitely worth it."
Okay, so it was more like sixteen years worth minus two hundred or so dollars, but they'd been spent on worthy things. Mainly, they'd gone towards paying for her iPod, and that was one hundred percent worth it. Plus, she'd done a few odds and ends jobs to make up for it and she'd cleaned a few pools (without the sex like Noah, though). All in all, there should be sufficient funds.
She turned to Finn, smirking at the black smudges on his face.
"I want to revive this truck to its old glory. Or maybe even better than its old glory if we can manage. It's going to be epic."
Finn looked up, considering the current schedule of repairs. "We could... start next week probably. I don't see why not." He grinned, already planning out what would need to be done in his mind as Lily-Puck's words registered.
"Wait," he said slowly, looking at her, confused. "Puck's coming home?"
Puck was silent for a moment, not sure how to answer Finn. Maybe Noah was coming home. He probably wasn't. Not any time in the forseeable future, anyways. She sighed.
"He has to come home some time, doesn't he?" she asked quietly, looking to Finn for the answer. In the back of her mind, she knew the answer could very well be no, but she did her best to pretend it wasn't true. She straightened out her shirt, moving back to the topic of the truck.
"Anyways, next week sounds great. I'll come around Monday at, like, six. Soccer camp doesn't let out until, like five thirty, so I'll be here at six-ish. Does that sound good?"
Sometime? thought Finn. I really think sometime should've been 30 minutes after he left. Finn sighed, shaking his head but not saying anything to dash Lily-Puck's dreams. Finn knew he was only a replacement for a lot of things, he wasn't stupid, but he kinda hoped that one day he'd be more than just that.
Not that he wanted to take over Puck's life, but... Finn was there. He wasn't going anywhere. Where was Puck?
"Sure Lily," he said, trying not to let his thoughts bleed into his cheerful tone. "Sounds perfect." He reached out to pull her into another hug, before letting her go with a grin. "Kick their asses in soccer, okay?"
Somewhat uncharacteristically, Puck clung to Finn, burying her head into Finn's shoulder. She pressed against him as though a hug could tell him she cared so deeply for him and she was so thankful he could be there. And, in a way, she hugged him as though hugging him was anything like hugging Noah one last time. When the hug finally ended, Puck looked up at Finn and grinned.
"I always kick ass in soccer," she replied. She held out her fist for Finn.

He peeked up at her, shaking his head with a grin. "But I'm guessing that's not what you want to do."
