Puck grinned as she rolled another strike. "You're never gonna win, McNeil. I've got magic hands." Puck joked, wigging her fingers at Rose's face. She sat back down in her chair, taking a sip of her soda. Rose was pretty good at bowling herself, but

"I guess I have been on a couple trips and other things. We went to Mississippi at the start of the summer." Rose looked around the bowling alley.
"I could really use some nasty greasy fries, what do you think?"
Reply
"I could go for fries, though."

"Two fries coming up. As far as the boy goes, well when it becomes something real, you can be the first one to know."

Rose approached the counter and ordered the fries. Taking a step back to wait for the order. She turned back to Puck and considered telling Puck all about her nightly talks. She generally did the girl talk thing with Bree, the sex talking with Emily and used Puck to talk about normal stuff.
"Okay, I'll tell you. I have been talking to Jason Nelson a lot lately. We danced at Emily's party a couple weeks ago and it's kinda grown into talking. We aren't dating or anything though. He's not making a move, and I don't know what I should do. What would you do?"
Rose thought for a second and realized that she never remembered Puck having a boyfriend, or any crushes. Shrugging it off she just figured Puck kept that stuff to herself.

"We're not in the Stone Age anymore, McNeil. If you want something, go for it. No need to wait for permission," she replied grabbing the plates of food from the counter and making her way back to where they were sitting. "Ask him out. Make the first move."
Reply
"You know, you're right. I just need to take the leap and say something. It goes against my nature, but it's worth a shot."
Rose thought about sending a text, but figured she would call him instead.
"I will call him right now, while I still have courage."
Reply
"You do that," she replied as she leaned back in her chair. "Just don't forget I'm here."

Rose took her phone out of her pocket. u5 phone was a generation ago, but that didn't bother Rose. She scrolled through her contacts on the touch screen and selected Jason's name.
The phone rang and rang.
Rose considered hanging up, it was just too nerve-wracking waiting for him to answer. She pulled the phone away from her ear.
"He's not answering."
Reply
"Call him later. Or leave him a message. He's probably busy," she replied as she reached for her soda. I love how I'm saying this like I know anything about relationships. The one she was currently having with Emily in secret was only her second. The first one was also in secret. She'd never known her mother in a relationship. Her brother ran away from the one relationship he had. I suddenly remember why I don't usually give relationship advice. And about thirty seconds too late. She sighed.

Rose took one of her fries, dipped it in ketchup and placed it in her mouth. The greasy fry was delicious, and Rose was glad that she still had a great metabolism.
"Yumm. Now tell me what you have been up to this summer Miss Lily."

Rose liked the occasional drink here or there, but she knew that Puck was doing way more than that. Sometimes she worried about Puck, but Rose knew that the girl was smart, so she could only hope that she was staying safe.
"Can we try and remember from now on?" Rose said, partly as a joke, partly as a hint to tell her friend to lay off the booze.
Reply
"Yeah, yeah, yeah," she replied, taking a sip of her soda. "Don't worry; I haven't killed anyone and I'm not pregnant."
Reply
"Sorry for going all mom on you."
Reply
"As for being all motherly," she grinned, "it's kind of cute that you care so much." She ruffled Rose's hair, dodging the hands that quickly followed to bat Puck's hand away.
