Last night I was working, driving my FedEx truck and I had just picked up Kinkos on linden rd. I stop at the road and see no north-bound traffic and one car going south-bound but I have plenty of time to turn so I decide to go left / North and when I hit the gas, the tires spun and I just slid forward. I then decided to just stop the truck and let the car go by but the truck kept sliding and ended up stoped in the center of the lane. I looked back at him and saw that the car was still coming at me at full speed so I looked right and saw there was still no cars coming and I hit the gas to get out of the way. As I made it into the inside lane and turn lane I saw the blue State POlICE car swerve into the center lane as well and slam into the center of my vehicle. Next thing that I remember is Opening my car door and checking to make sure that the other driver was ok. My truck was against the northbound curb with it perpendicular to the lanes and nose to nose somehow with the state officers car that was obviously totaled. The front was smashed in more then half way to the cab. The officer, (Dave was his name. lol) asked if I was hurt and I realized that I should probably check so I moved a little and said, "NO, I'm fine." He surveyed the damage and I saw another cop on the way already so I laughed and said "wow, that was quick. Were you responding to a call or something?" and the officer said that he was going to a call at Toys R' Us which is next door to Kinkos. He was very nice and obviously his only concern was that we both were ok.
I got my manager there and there were about 5 cop cars, 2 fire trucks, an ambulance, and 2 tow trucks. it was crazy. The officer told my boss that he saw my tires spinning and that I was sliding and the accident is something that neither of us could have avoided. The investigation was the job of the township police and I ended up getting the ticket for failure to stop when leaving a private drive. What bull crap.
I wish that this was all a dream but it's true. I was then sent to the hospital for an alcohol test and drug test.
in the end of all this that happened at 7:17, I didn't leave work until 11:42. Getting home at 12:30 after a night like that is to hard. Time to go to court. This could be nasty.
