Happy Cinco!
I travel to Hanover, NH / Norwich, VT for work a few times year, for our all-hands company get togethers...
Today was a typical day. After a hard night of watching TNG on SyFy, reading, and going to bed at 11, today I woke up at 6. Norwich (
http://www.norwichinn.com/) is foggy as heck. They changed the schedule of the buses (which are free here, thanks Dartmouth!) to come at 7:20 or 8:10. Too foggy to walk (1.5 miles to town), so took the 7:10. I'm not sure why I was up so early. Then breakfast at Lou's
http://lousrestaurant.net/. Rolled in to work at 8, where all the Europeans (our Swede and Nederlander) were up and waiting, but the locals weren't. Just before 9, locals rolled in. Today's agenda.... all day, all hands meeting to get company updates, talk benefits, etc. I had a 10 minute presentation and live demo that went very well. Every employee (all 25) was there, and we took a pic (to be posted). Meeting until 3, then I was wiped out, so walked back to the hotel.
Filed some task reports (for some new ideas for little projects, including one called geoweird), went to Dan & Whit's
http://www.danandwhits.com/ next door, got some pb/j supplies for the rest of my breakfasts. I'm sick of eating out, and eating so much food. These trips tend to be too much booze, too much coffee, too much social time, too much coding. I like my coworkers, and there is always too much to catch up on. Hit the town atm ($2.75 fee, the bastards!), hung out on the front porch with coworkers. Then a quick shower, and Cinco de Mayo dinner in the Inn's wine cellar. I had at lentil veggie loaf that was 'not terrible'. Crispy little meatloafy looking bits over mashed potatoes and decent mushroom gravy. Free drinks, dinner, coctail hour beforehand with families.
I miss my people and my house, and I'm on a strange sleepless schedule. It's very hard to sleep on the road, since I'm amped up all the time. Also trying to be gentle on my body since I'm still feeling a little sick. Tomorrow should be a long day of coding. Meetings at 8am and Noon, but managable. Feeling very productive and praised about my work. Others seem to think the approach David and I are taking makes sense.
Friday I get to see Bamboogeode in boston, for a few days of easy.... yay!
