Tornado

OK so I don't have much time to type this because the library is closing soon, but..

Last night while I was talking to ladysophiekitty  on AIM, all my power went out.  There was some thunder in the distance so I figured it was just a storm.  After a few minutes my dad started yelling for me to get downstairs right away, so I went down and looked out the window.  Out of freaking nowhere (seriously, it had been pretty nice, only a bit humid, all day), there were 85 mph winds and my neighbor's big tree was snapped in half.  We didn't have a radio or anything, but we could tell it was a tornado, so we got ready to get under the stairs.

Then it all stopped, except for some light rain.  At that moment they decided to turn the tornado sirens in Highland Village on.  Yeah, good job.

It stormed like crazy for a good couple of hours, and then it calmed down so I went with my dad and brother and grandfather to check out the damage in my dad's truck.  We drove around and trees, fences, roofs, were all down and across the roads.  The tornado itself apparently hit in a field, but the power was out to 75% of the city.

We went back home and tried to sleep, but no power meant no air conditioning, and if I opened my windows then the storm was too loud to sleep anyway.  At some point my flashlight went out too.

So today, almost 24 hours later - still no power, and the rumor is we won't get it fixed for another 4 days.  Woo hoo.  Especially considering I was counting on the internet to study for placement tests, and I'm running out of clothes so I'm going to have to go to a friend's house or go get them cleaned somewhere soon.

Oh and today it's sunny and warm with a nice breeze.  TEXAS WEATHER, MY LOVE-HATE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU CONTINUES.

INTERNETS, I MISS YOU.  I need to study now  D:

BTW, people on my f-list who are from the Dallas area: everyone okay?
