Title: The Road To Purgation
Author: FloweryMisha
Pairing: KrisHo
Warning: BoyxBoy love. Enough said.
Summary: Heaven and Hell aren’t supposed to be together. But for Kris and Suho, they probably are.

[1]

This time, they landed at a yard outside a small house. The house looked like it needed repainting, but nonetheless, it seemed homey enough for a place to live.

Suho opened his mouth to speak, but he closed it back when Kris pressed a finger on his lips, telling him to be quiet. The demon then carefully tiptoed to the window to peek. The curtain wasn’t closed, so Kris could see right through into the living room. Suho didn’t have the courage to move from his spot. After making sure it was safe, Kris nodded as a sign that they may speak.

Suho covered his mouth with a hand to keep his voice down. “Whose house is this, Kris...?”

“It’s Chanyeol’s.”

“Chanyeol...?”

“He’s the human I told you about.”

“Ah, the one who taught you so many things?”

Kris smiled as he affectionately poked Suho’s cheek. “You remember.” Either it was because Suho was an angel or because he was just so damn beautiful-Kris couldn’t decide-but the smile caused by the sincere compliment was priceless.

“Of course I remember...” Suho said, feeling a bit proud. “But...if you don’t mind me asking, how did you stumble upon him? I mean, humans and demons are...”

“We met by accident.” Kris grabbed Suho’s hand as they walked out of the yard into the street. It was a different environment, but Suho was pretty sure it was still Seoul. There were a lot of people walking along the street, and Kris felt Suho shifting closer to him. “Chanyeol almost killed Baekhyun at that time.”

“Baekhyun...?” Suho’s eyes widened as he tried to recall who it was. “Your brother? What happened? Was your brother hurt...?”

“Yeah. He mistook Baekhyun for a demon he had been chasing...”

Suho froze at that and his steps slowed down. “Humans...chase demons...?”

“You have no idea,” Kris said quietly, but there was a hint of sarcasm underneath his tone.

Suho frowned in confusion as he tugged on the demon’s arm, wanting to know more. “And then...? How did everything go...?”

“You’re awfully curious for an angel, aren’t you?” Kris raised a brow as he turned to Suho.

“S-sorry...”

Silence descended upon them as they continued to walk. Suho silently stole a glance at Kris, wanting to talk more, but the demon’s face was grumpy. It saddened Suho that Kris’ expression was caused by him.  The angel then pressed his face apologetically against Kris’ slender arm.

“I’m sorry, Kris... I won’t ask about it anymore...”

Kris felt his heart dropping. He mentally berated himself for making Suho sad and groaned softly. It got the beautiful angel to look at him, and Kris continued talking like the topic wasn’t a problem. “Long story short, they fell in love. I have to say that I was against their relationship at first, but...Chanyeol is a responsible man. He treats Baekhyun with care, and that’s all that matters to me. I don’t know if ‘dating’ is even a proper term for them. All I know, a human isn’t supposed to fall in love with a demon...but then again, who am I to say about that?”

I, myself, fell for an angel.

“Now you know the reason why I sneak down here a lot.”

“...because Baekhyun wants to see Chanyeol...?”

“Yeah. I know that Baekhyun can take care of himself, but... We’re practically brothers and I just don’t want anything to happen to him, so...”

Suho said nothing but to intertwine their fingers together. Kris was a bit taken aback by that and his breath hitched slightly as he glanced at Suho. Beautiful. They were surrounded by a lot of humans, and they probably should leave soon-what if they stumbled upon other angels or demons?-but Kris didn’t care. Even in a million people, Kris would easily spot Suho.

That was how much Suho meant to him.

Suho stepped closer to rest his head on Kris’ chest.

“You’re a nice person, Kris... I mean, demon. Well, whatever you are...”

Suho giggled cutely and Kris’ heart stuttered at how lovely it sounded. The angel seemed comfortable in Kris’ arms, and Kris took the moment to hold Suho close.

He never wanted to let go.

***

Their trip continued in silence. Their time was almost up, but neither of them seemed to care.

Kris never let go of Suho’s hand while leading him all the way. Suho didn’t have the courage to ask where they were heading this time but to follow the handsome demon, and Kris chose not to tell him either.

Suho kept his mouth shut when they finally arrived at their destination.

Kris had taken him to a motel, but it would be a lie to say that Suho was surprised. The angel had a feeling he knew he would be taken to a place like this, and yet he just let Kris.

The room smelled cheap, but at least the sheet had been washed. Suho stood by the window, gazing outside while Kris took care of everything. By everything, he meant financially-though he had no idea how Kris managed to have human money-and not...mentally.

The angel clutched his chest.

Suho flinched when he heard the door closing and peered over his shoulder. It was drizzling outside, and Kris casually flipped his hair to get rid of the droplets of water. Suho self-consciously pressed his lips into a thin line.

He had always thought that Kris was handsome for a demon, but Suho had never really spent a moment to take a good look. At the first glance, Kris was scary as hell, but it probably just something that ran in all demon’s blood. It could be his eyebrows, though... And whenever Suho was beside him, he just felt extremely secure, like Kris would protect him at all cost. It could be the way he glared at people. It could be his towering height. It could be...

...the way Kris stubbornly tried for him.

Or maybe it was just Suho who was weak when it came to persistency.

The sound of Kris taking off his jacket jerked Suho out of his daze. Kris casually threw the clothes to one of the seats in the room. Suho knew it was impolite to stare, but he couldn’t take his eyes off of Kris. Their eyes connected when Kris ran a hand through his blond hair.

Suho visibly swallowed.

“Suho,” Kris said softly as he took a step closer. “Do you remember what I told you last week?”

Suho’s hand flew to the curtain behind him, gripping it tightly. Last week... Of course he remembered, his memories weren’t that bad. However, he almost took a minute to finally nod.

Kris narrowed his eyes. “What did I tell you?”

“T-that...” Suho whispered nervously. “That you were going to make me...yours.”

“And you could’ve declined,” Kris said with a steady voice as he took another step closer. Suho instinctively glued his back against the window, and Kris almost smiled at that. He had never known that angels could be nervous, too. “You had six days. You could’ve, but you didn’t.”

“I-I gave you my word-“

Suho was unable to finish his sentence. The angel shrieked in fear as Kris suddenly lunged forward, pinning him against the window. Suho breathlessly stared at Kris, his nape felt cold against the window glass. Compared to Kris, he felt so small and weak. With their height difference, Kris could easily pushed him down. Suho’s heartbeat accelerated like it was going over a hundred miles per hour when Kris glanced down at him.

“It’s not that,” Kris slowly shook his head. “It’s not why you’re here.” He affectionately brushed his fingers against Suho’s cheek. The angel’s eyes fluttered, and Kris almost held his breath at the simple reaction. “Why did you come, Suho?”

“Kris...please...”

“I want an answer,” Kris sternly replied. His tone seemed to scare Suho because the angel flinched with a terrified gasp. “An honest one.”

Suho looked lost for a moment.

“I...”

The angel finally braved himself to look up at Kris.

“How could I turn away from you...?”

Suho spoke in such a low tone, it barely came out as a whisper.

“How could I decline my feelings...for you...?”

Kris could feel himself burning with desire. The blond-haired demon then pulled Suho to the center of the room, close to the bed. Kris placed a hand on Suho’s nape before pressing their lips together tenderly, liking the way the latter searched for his fingers in return. It was then Kris realized that Suho had such small hands compared to his, but the way their fingers laced were perfect, like it was created to fit Kris’ hand.

Kris gently wrapped his arms around Suho’s waist, pressing their bodies together, but he paused when he heard the beautiful angel squeaked and pulled away from Kris.

Kris almost couldn’t hide his disappointment at the rejection. “You don’t want it...?”

Suho bashfully chuckled as he dropped his gaze. His hands trailed on Kris’ stomach. “It’s not that...it’s just...I have no idea what we’re...” He looked so embarrassed when Kris nudged his chin with his fingers. “...will you laugh at me?”

“I won’t.”

Suho looked like he was about to say something else, but Kris intercepted him by pushing Suho onto the bed.

“Is this your first time?”

Suho turned crimson at the question. Kris held his breath for a moment because there it went again. The sensation of almost losing his self-control at Suho’s expressions. And his own heartbeat every time he saw Suho... It was like his heart wasn’t working properly, like it was old and rusty.

“It’s-it’s not for you...?”

“You haven’t answered my question,” Kris ignored the question addressed to him as he got rid of Suho’s jacket. The curvature of Suho’s body was getting clearer and Kris could feel his desire growing deeper. “Is this your first time? Am I your first demon?”

“How should I answer-“ Suho yelped when his back met the mattress. The next thing he knew, Kris was hovering above him. Suho became
breathless for a moment, unable to say anything when Kris locked their gazes and trapped his tiny wrists. “-that...”

Kris slowly slid a leg between Suho’s thighs, nudging the angel on purpose, but his eyes never left Suho’s beautiful face, not for even a second. His gaze was stern as he repeated the question. “Am I your first demon?”

Suho shut his eyes in defeat. His pale face turned red from all the emotions caused by their closeness. Too close, in fact.

“Isn’t that obvious...?”

Suho weakly lifted up his hand to touch Kris’ cheek as he whispered,

“You’re my first in everything, Kris...”

Then everything started.

Suho had the fairest skin Kris had ever seen, and the demon couldn’t take his eyes off of the beautiful form. They both had male forms, but Suho’s was so beautiful that nothing else could compare. Kris had no idea if it had anything to do with Suho being an angel, but the latter’s skin was flawless. To have the privilege to touch it meant that Kris was really special, and a huge pride swelled within Kris.

Kris selfishly sucked on Suho’s skin, wanting the white skin to turn blue, wanting to be the first one to ever mark the angel. The blond-haired demon moved downward to lick Suho’s nipple while at the same time deliberately exposing more of the angel’s skin, almost ripping Suho’s shirt. Kris found himself stopping to stare for quick seconds, marveling at how beautiful and perfect Suho was.

His.

His self-control was almost at its limit, but Kris stopped when a soft whimper escaped Suho’s lips.

“Did I hurt you?” Kris whispered as he crawled back up to claim Suho’s lips, wanting to calm him down. Suho’s lips were as hot as his, and Kris was really afraid if he had hurt him. Maybe his kisses were too rough? “Where does it hurt?”

Suho pressed the back of his hand against his lips, his eyes shutting as he shook his head.

“Suho,” Kris said almost desperately. “I’m sorry...”

“No,” Suho whispered. The angel slowly cracked his eyes open, and the way he stared at Kris was truly endearing. Suho bit his lower lip shyly as he hummed. “It’s all right. It’s just...feels...different. Everything just feels...weird...but not in a bad way...”

Kris smiled soothingly. He ran a thumb over Suho’s lower lip.

“You’re uncertain.”

Why everything about Suho was so lovable?

“No, I’m...certain if it’s you, Kris...”

Was it because he was an angel?

“You need to be certain, because I’m not stopping, Suho. I’m not stopping.”

Or was it because Kris had lost his sanity because his feelings for Suho were too big?

“Then...don’t stop, Kris...don’t stop...”

Why was Kris so lucky to be loved by Suho in return?

It was strange.

What they did was lust, but with Suho, it just somehow felt like it was covered by innocence. It wasn’t Kris’ first time-sure, he fooled around when he was younger-and he usually wouldn’t really care about being gentle, but not this time. Not to the beautiful creature in his arms.

Kris thought he had seen heaven when he thrusted into Suho.

Suho had his eyes closed almost the whole time, flinching and gasping softly every time Kris found his sensitive spots. Unlike the angel, Kris never closed his eyes, not when he could drink the view of Suho, of his beautifully unguarded expressions. The inner demon inside him had been screaming for him to unleash the lust, but for some reason, Kris managed to suppress it. His love for Suho was bigger and deeper. The way Kris touched Suho was so careful like the angel was made of china, and that if he pressed him a little bit harder, he would break.

He had the right to touch Suho.

Kris had the only right.

When his name escaped for the umpteenth time from Suho’s lips that night, Kris lost himself and pulled Suho to crash their lips together. The spark grew bigger and bigger between them and it morphed into a bond. Kris could feel his feelings grew deeper within him, so deep that he was afraid it might bleed, as their bodies moved together in a wonderful rhythm, in a pace that only they would know. Kris would chase and Suho would follow.

“Kris!!”

The said demon looked at Suho’s face the whole time, and he had lost count of how many times he thought that Suho was beautiful that night. No, it was an understatement. Kris didn’t know how to describe his feelings for Suho anymore.

Not close enough.

Kris pushed Suho against the wall, this time rocking into the angel from behind. However, this position dissatisfied Kris because he wasn’t able to look at Suho’s face, so after a few times, he paused to turn Suho to face him. He carefully placed Suho underneath him with the latter’s back against the wall before continuing thrusting.

“Kris-“

Kris was supposed to pull himself out. He felt himself coming close, but then his selfishness as a demon resurfaced. He just wanted to make Suho his, inside and out so badly, forever. Kris came inside Suho as he held the latter’s hips firmly, not wanting him to escape, and a moment later, Suho followed with an angelic cry.

Suho’s strength was completely drained as he threw his head back. His chest was moving rapidly. Kris thought he was gasping for air, but a second later he realized that the angel was crying.

Fear washed over Kris as he rested beside Suho and wiped the tears away. Did I hurt him? Was it too much...?

“Did you cry because you hate it...?”

Suho chuckled between his tears. The beautiful angel weakly shook his head as he caressed Kris’ cheek affectionately. “Of course not... I cried because I feel good...”

Kris pulled Suho closer to his chest and pressed a chaste kiss on the angel’s forehead. He didn’t care if their time was up, and he told Suho to rest. The angel obliged happily as he closed his eyes and cuddled closer to Kris.

Kris listened to the sound of Suho’s breathing, and he couldn’t help but think of Baekhyun’s words.

Baekhyun was right.

Kris felt completed.

***

When they got back to the Purgatory, Suho sensed his brothers were looking for him.

Kris, too, could sense Baekhyun was looking for him.

Six days ago, Suho would’ve ran away from Kris the moment he found out about his brothers, but right then, he was staring at Kris longingly. They were hidden behind the trees, safe from the others who would hate to see them together.

Kris grasped Suho’s slender arm only to repeatedly kiss it, as a sign that he was head over heels for the angel.

Suho smiled weakly before leaning forward to kiss Kris on the lips passionately.

“I love you,” was what the angel had whispered.

Kris had a hard time letting Suho go, but when Suho told him that they would meet in another six days, Kris felt a bit calm. The demon simply gave Suho their last kiss for the day before finally letting Suho go.

“I love you so much more, more than you’ll ever know...”

Was what Kris had replied, and Suho bloomed into a beautiful smile.

Something bright filled Kris’ vision after that. He squinted his eyes and he held his breath when he saw white feathers around him. The demon extended a hand to grab one of the feathers, and it instantly turned to ashes the moment it touched his palm.

What does it mean...?

Kris dismissed the uncanny feeling. He waited until Suho disappeared from his peripheral vision, until he was certain that it was safe for him to go back.

***

Suho felt very tired that he quickly fell asleep the minute he touched his bed.

The angel woke up the next morning with a horrible pain.

At first he thought it was because of his (sexual) activity with Kris yesterday, but it wasn’t his lower part that hurt... Suho hissed slightly as he pulled himself to sit. His back ached badly, like someone had stabbed a knife on it. Suho shifted and rested a hand on the bed, but he frowned when he felt his palm was kind of sticky.

Suho dropped his gaze down and the angel went horror at the sight of blood. His white sheet was stained with lots of blood that it almost covered his whole bed.

The angel screamed as he crawled off of the bed. He hugged his trembling body in confusion, unable to think where did the blood come from. Kris. His mind immediately flew to the blond-haired demon. Kris, I’m scared... Suho sniffed as he frantically looked around his bedroom, wondering what had happened when he was asleep. He froze upon seeing his own reflection in the mirror.

His shoulders were bleeding.

Suho turned pale.

His wings were broken.

The angel heard faint footsteps approaching and he stared at the door in fear. No, don’t come in! Suho didn’t have the time to clean up the mess on his bed when the door swung open. Do, one of his siblings, barged in almost hysterically. It was rare for an angel to scream, so when one did, something bad must have happened.

“Suho, what hap-“

Do fell silent at the sight of blood on the bed and his expression changed. Suho’s breath became ragged, wanting to make up a reason, but he couldn’t think clearly with all the horrible pain on his back. Do could’ve run away, but he chose to close the door behind him before running toward Suho.  The younger angel cried in fear as he noticed the blood was everywhere on Suho’s back.

“Suho...what have you done?”

Suho couldn’t bring himself to answer.

“Suho...?”

Broken wings was a sign that an angel had done an unforgivable sin. Suho’s vision became blurry as he clutched his chest. No, Kris is not a bad thing... Suho winced in pain as he stumbled forward, almost fainting due to the blood loss, but Do managed to catch him right before he fell.

“Let’s get you out of here,” Do whispered, as if he was afraid if anyone was listening. “Your screaming was quite loud, I hope no one-“

“What happens here?”

A gentle yet menacing voice came roaring in the room. Do froze in his tracks at the voice. Suho weakly lifted up his chin to look at the other angel who had just appeared.

“Mother,” he whispered.

It didn’t take Jaejoong a long time to realize the condition Suho was in. Their Mother’s eyes widened in wrath as he lunged forward to snatch Suho from Do. Terrified, Do automatically let Suho go.

“You insolent fool!!” Jaejoong hissed indignantly. “You let a demon touched you, didn’t you??”

Do’s white face turned even paler at the accusation.

Suho cried weakly when Jaejoong pressed his hands on Suho’s bleeding shoulder blades. “M-Mother, stop!”

“No,” Jaejoong said darkly. “You have done an unforgivable thing and you will not be forgiven.”

With that, Jaejoong dragged Suho away with him.

“Mother, don’t-“

Do begged their mother with all his might to forgive Suho, but Jaejoong was so outraged that he simply flew away and left the crying angel all by himself.

***

Suho’s painful cry could be heard throughout the heaven.

Jaejoong was kind enough not to let anyone know who it was, but he let the other angels heard Suho’s antagonized cry every night so that no one would dare to do the same thing again.

Aside from Jaejoong, Do was the only one who knew it was Suho. He wished there was something he could do. The angel was so torn apart at the fact that he couldn’t sleep for days. He couldn’t do his task properly, and he couldn’t do anything but cry.

Kai, one of the angels, kept on asking him what was wrong, urging Do to share it with him, but Do stubbornly kept it to himself.

Several days had passed since then, and Suho’s painful cry was still audible. It must’ve hurt a lot to have his wings taken away from him. Do loathed himself for being so weak, for unable to do anything. But what could he do...? He was nothing against Jaejoong’s power... Their mother was one of the Sacred Elders who had incredible power. But Do just couldn’t take it anymore. There must be something he could do to help Suho... As much as Suho had done a wrong thing, he didn’t want the beautiful angel to be tortured.

With that in mind, Do made his way to the castle where Suho was being held. He was thinking of a logical reason to argue with Jaejoong to let Suho go, but his courage vanished to heaven-knew-where when he heard Jaejoong’s voice echoing loudly in the room.

“Why won’t you give up his name??”

Do halted his steps and hastily hid behind the nearest statues. His petite figure made it easier for him to hide, and he could see Jaejoong and a very bleeding Suho in a cage. Do felt like crying at the sight of his beloved sibling.

“Suho,” Jaejoong said through his gritted teeth. “This is our chance. Give up his name and we’ll start a war with them. It’s just as simple as that. Isn’t it what you want? A revenge for hurting you?”

“He’s not...hurting me, Mother,” Suho breathed weakly.

“Liar!” Jaejoong screamed loudly as he banged his fist against the cage. Suho whimpered and Do had to shut his eyes to prevent himself from crying. “How could you say he didn’t hurt you? He came inside you, didn’t he? Your wings will only be broken once they are tainted, and how dare he gave you his filthy-“

“I let him, Mother...”

Jaejoong’s face turned white and he snorted in disgust. “You keep on defending that creature. Very well. If you don’t want to start a war that bad with their kind, fine. We won’t. But I will never let you out of that cage. It’s up to you now, Suho. Either you say his name, or you die bleeding.” Jaejoong turned around gracefully, but his lightning steps indicated that he was still angry.

Do prayed that Jaejoong wouldn’t take notice of him as the latter walked past the statues, and he breathed in relief when Jaejoong kept on walking until he disappeared in the corner. The younger angel quickly took the opportunity to scoot over to Suho’s cage, gnawing on his lower lip so hard to hide his tremble. “Suho...”

Suho feebly glanced up and his eyes widened in disbelief. “Do...? What are you doing here...?”

“I’m getting you out of here,” Do stifled a sob as he tried to open the lock.

“Wait, don’t,” Suho shook his head. “Even if I’m out of here, I can’t go anywhere...my wings are broken... Mother will easily catch me...”

Do helplessly whimpered underneath his palm. The tears were threatening to fall from his eyes. “Then what can I do, Suho...?”

Suho smiled sadly. “There’s nothing you can do to help me...however...” He looked thoughtful for a moment. “Do, will you help me with my one last favor...?”

“Don’t say like we’ll never meet again-“

“Please...?”

Do clicked his tongue in resignation. “Anything, Suho. Anything.”

“Promise me.”

“I-I promise...”

“Thank you,” Suho carefully leaned his shoulder against the cage for support before sighing. “I promised to meet him in another two days. Can you please...go to him and tell him that I love him...?” Suho’s eyes were teary and it seemed like he had lost the will to live. “I love him so much...as long as I know that he will be safe, nothing else matters...”

“B-but-“

“You have promised me, Do,” Suho intercepted Do before he got to finish his stuttering. “Please, tell him that I love him so much...”

Do wanted to scream in frustration. How could Suho sacrificed his life for someone-a demon, in this matter-that would never be his in the first place...? They weren’t even supposed to know each other. Heck, it was obvious that they were different kinds, and that they weren’t meant to be. Do wanted to protest, but when he saw the determination and unwavering resolution shone within Suho’s orbs, he said nothing more.

He needed to know the person who made Suho like this.

“What should I do...?”

***

When it was finally the day for Do to meet Kris, he hesitated.

The angel kept on glancing up at the sky, as if he would find his answer there. In a few moments, he would have to leave to meet the demon Suho was talking about-Kris. He tried to hide his nervousness by biting his nails. What if the demon that Suho was very much in love was a total ass? (He mentally begged for forgiveness at the harsh word.) What if Suho was blinded by love that he was unable to see that this Kris person wasn’t the best for him? Worse, what if...this Kris was only toying with him?

Do heaved loudly.

Meet him in the pathway to the Purgatory after supper. Find him between the largest trees.

Do cautiously threw a glance around the room while at the same time trying to act casual. He had no idea how Suho managed to slip away from the room for weeks. It just seemed impossible... However, the lady of fortune must have been on Do’s side, because none of his brothers seemed to care as he walked away.

It was probably too soon to conclude that way, because Kai’s voice surprised him.

“Do, where are you going?”

“It’s none of your business,” Do retorded rudely. It wasn’t his true intention to snap, but Do was just afraid his ‘mission’ would fail. Kai looked pained at his words, and Do brought a hand to his lips in guilt. Kai had always been his favorite angel, and Do had never meant to hurt him in the slightest way. But right now, Suho’s message to Kris was much more important. Do let out a sigh and stared at the other angel. “I'm sorry. I-I need to leave...”

“Where are you going?”

Do ignored Kai as he flew to the direction of Purgatory. He wished Kai wouldn’t follow him, but the latter stubbornly did. Do tried to think of something to say to make Kai go away, but he didn’t have much time for that. The doe-eyed angel carefully landed as he looked around the trees Suho had told him about, looking for the sight of a blonde-haired demon. Kai landed shortly after him, and he was about to snap in annoyance when they both saw Kris.

It was the first time for Do to be this close to a demon-a handsome one, might he add. Kai instinctively tried to pull Do closer to him, but the latter just walked closer to Kris. Kris sent them a suspicious glance, taking a step back as Do got closer, but before he managed to run away, Do burst out crying.

“Do??” Kai hissed in confusion at the angel’s sudden outburst.

“Su-Suho is caught,” Do sobbed as quiet as he could. “His wings are broken and Mother said it was because he let a demon-you-came inside him. Which is why he is tainted and bleeding badly from the loss of blood...”

“What? Suho?” Kai looked at Do in shock. “Why didn’t you tell me anything about this?”

“Our Mother is threatening to start the war to revenge him, but Suho didn’t want to spill your name so Mother told him he could die in the cage if he chose not to talk,” Do continued sadly. “And he asked me to fly here to tell you his last message...”

Kris’ expression hardened. His voice was surprisingly deep when he spoke. “And what’s his last message?”

Do’s shoulders were shaking due to his heavy tears. “T-that he loves you very much, and that he doesn’t have any regret...”

Kris angrily punched the nearest tree and both Do and Kai jumped in shock. The demon looked furious, but Do noticed that there were tears in his eyes. Do covered his mouth with his hand in disbelief.

Why did he feel like Kris was meant to be with Suho...?

Kris dragged a hand down his face in hopelessness as he turned to the angels. “Is there...any way I can fly to heaven without being noticed?”

“You can’t do that,” Kai abruptly said. “It will only start the war. You heard Suho, he didn’t want the war to be started. He kept your name, which meant he wanted you to be safe.”

“So you’re saying that I should just do nothing and lay low?” Kris growled. “Screw the war. I’m not going to let Suho die.”

It was then that Do noticed the same determination and unwavering resolution glimmered on Kris’ black orbs. Do gasped mutely as he reached out for Kai.

“I’ll bring him to you,” Do said and Kai looked at him in surprise. “But you have to promise me, that you have a safe place to live for him.”

Kris narrowed his eyes. “How do I know that it’s not a trap...?”

“You have no other choice,” Do firmly said. “Either you trust me, or you let Suho die in that cage.”

Kris obviously was clenching his teeth as he took a moment to think. His fingers curled into fists on his thighs, and Do visibly tensed, because if Kris ever attacked them, they probably wouldn’t last. After quite a while, Kris finally took a deep breath and Do found himself doing the same thing.

“I have a place to stay on earth.”

“Will he be safe there...?”

Kris nodded. “You can trust me. I will protect him with my life.”

Both Do and Kai were a bit stunned by Kris’ words, but they said nothing to that. The emotions in Kris’ eyes were real, and Do felt himself becoming calm.

He trusted Kris.

“Then it’s a promise.”

***

Suho fluttered his eyes open when he heard soft voices around his cage. He rubbed his eyes sleepily as he looked up. It was probably around midnight. Suho suppressed a moan when his right shoulder ached. It had been days, but his blood hadn’t dried yet. Blood just kept on gushing out of his wounds.

Suho stopped moving when he heard a shush coming from his left direction. The next thing he knew, the cage was opened and someone reached inside to pull him out.

“Don’t make a sound,” Kai whispered as he took Suho into his arms.

“Kai...?” Suho whispered in disbelief, but he didn’t fight when Kai carried him.

The younger angel cringed slightly at the amount of blood loss on the floor, hating the fact that their Mother chose to torture Suho and let him die for real instead of treating him.

“Do...?”

“Ssh... You’re going to be all right soon,” Do whispered back.

Suho almost lost his consciousness. He felt the wind was blowing on his face, and he realized that Kai and Do were flying to take him into the darkness of the night. Suho winced at the sudden pain on his back, wanting to cry, but he kept it down. He didn’t want the other angels to worry about him.

They had been flying for some time and Suho had a feeling he knew where they were going to take him. They flew out of the heaven, straight to the pathway of the Purgatory. It’s a familiar place, Suho absently thought with a small smile. Kris...

His feeling was right when Kai slowly descended to the ground, to the dark side of the forest.

Suho was still confused why would they bring him there, but it all dissipated when he spotted  someone. The angel couldn’t hold his feelings anymore when he saw the blond-haired demon was waiting near the portal. As soon as they landed, Suho freed himself out of Kai’s grip, straight into Kris’ arms. Suho cried in relief as he reached out to Kris, to kiss him.

Maybe, they were meant to be.

The view of Kris and Suho kissing made Do blush, but the latter broke into a smile. Suho looked so happy when he met Kris, and Do knew it was the right decision to bring them together. Do stole a glance at Kai, wondering if he was wrong for thinking that way, but judging from Kai’s face, Do knew he was thinking the same thing.

“You should leave now before anyone else comes,” Kai said quietly. “The sooner, the better.”

“We should go,” Kris told Suho.

“Where are we going, Kris...?”

“I’ll tell you later. Just say your goodbye.”

Kris really didn’t want to waste any time. He dragged Suho to the portal. It was midnight, so Jessica and Tiffany were nowhere to be found.

Suho stared at the other angels gratefully. “I... I just can’t thank you enough...”

“Wait,” Do suddenly said. He winced slightly as he hurt himself and quickly made a crest symbol with his blood on his palm.

“No!” Suho gasped in fear as Do stepped closer. “No, Do!”

“It’s the only thing I can do to help,” Do said softly as he pressed the symbol against Suho’s chest. “It’s the only way so that you guys cannot be tracked by the angels.”

“But-“

“We should go,” Kris sternly said.

Do smiled sincerely as he tiptoed to press his palm against Kris’ chest, but he changed his mind halfway. He hesitantly pulled his hand away from Kris. “I can’t do that to you. You’re...our only hope to communicate.”

“Do, we should go.” This time it was Kai who pulled Do closer and nodded at Kris and Suho. “Be careful.”

Suho was about to say something else, but Kris had pulled him into the portal, and then everything went black.

***

Suho woke up with bandages wrapped around his shoulders.

He glanced around momentarily, wondering where they were, but Kris’ sweet smile eased all of his insecurities.

Suho spent the rest of his days crying in Kris’ arms, and Kris did nothing but to caress the angel’s hair. He didn’t try to soothe Suho, but his presence just kind of did in a way. Suho was sad that he had to leave heaven for good, but he had Kris. He couldn’t possibly choose both, and if he had to choose...

Suho knew what his answer would be.

When he was calmed enough, Kris took the chance to introduce Suho to Chanyeol. It was the first time for him to interact with a human. A handsome, grinning, hyper kind of human, to be exact. Suho didn’t mean to stare, but he stared a bit too long at Chanyeol. The raven-haired angel flinched slightly when another person appeared with an unhappy pout and a glare.

“Suho, I want you to meet Baekhyun.”

That explained the glare he got, and Suho smiled coyly as he hid himself behind Kris.

From Baekhyun, they found out that the situation didn't change. The heaven and hell were still in balance. The angels had done nothing to confront the demon. The war didn’t start, and judging from the rumors, everyone seemed to have found out that it was Suho. But there was nothing worse than an angel losing his wings, so even if Suho disappeared, it was better because he was a disgrace to his kind.

Chanyeol gave them a room to stay.

Suho was a bit awkward because human-interaction was new to him, but Chanyeol had a warm personality and a kind heart. Slowly, but surely, Suho was beginning to open himself to talk with Chanyeol, and it got Kris to smile.

When Suho had recovered and his wounds had stopped bleeding, Kris took him out to get some fresh air. Sometimes Suho saw other angels walking down the earth, but they didn’t acknowledge his presence because of the angel crest carved on his chest. His mind flew to Do and Suho wondered how the younger angel was doing. He sincerely wished that Do and Kai were all right.

It was drizzling that night when Suho gazed outside the window. The rain reminded him of their first night together in the motel, and Suho swallowed nervously. The angel fixed his eyes on the window, at his own reflection.

Suho must’ve been spacing out for quite some time that he didn’t realize Kris had been standing behind him. A soft gasp escaped his lips when he felt Kris was hugging him from behind.

“Kris,” Suho’s voice cracked slightly.

Kris softly kissed Suho’s nape as he wrapped his arms around the latter's waist. “I love you.”

Suho couldn't help but smile at the affection showed by the taller demon. Kissing had become a habit between them, and Suho had to admit that he loved the way Kris kissed him. The beautiful angel placed his hands on Kris', staring at their reflections on the window, marveling how their height difference matched.

They were definitely meant to be.

“I love you so much more, more than you’ll ever know...”

Suho felt completed.

End.

A few months had passed since they lived on earth. Kris became Wu Yifan and Suho became Wu Junmyeon. The demon figured it was easier to use Korean names since they were living in Seoul. To make human money, Suho tried to do a human job once, but he failed miserably because he was still not used to his ability to feel the evil in human’s soul.

Needless to say, the job suit Kris more, but not that the demon minded. He was never going to let Suho work in the first place.

Kris had insisted on taking Suho out that day.

“Kris, where are we going?”

Kris merely smiled as he answered. “To make you happy.”

“But I am happy,” Suho replied in confusion.

“I know, but this one will make you happier.”

Suho quickly grabbed Kris’ hand as they walked across the street. “What did you mean? If it’s about dinner, you know that I’m not that fond of human’s food, right?”

Kris laughed heartily and shook his head in amusement. “You know that the angels are unable to find you because of that crest, right?”

Suho frowned. “Y-yes...”

“And that was why Do was hesitant to put the crest on me.”

They finally reached a park and several kids were running past through them while laughing in excitement.

“’I was the only hope to communicate.’ Now I understand that it was so he could find me.”

Kris stopped walking and Suho drew in a sharp breath when he saw Do and Kai were standing face to face, chatting lively just a few steps away from them. The angels looked so decently dressed with human clothes. Suho’s eyes became teary when Do turned his head and caught his gaze. The doe-eyed angel shook Kai’s arm as he waved with a wide grin, beckoning them to come closer. Suho was about to sprint ahead in glee to approach them when all of a sudden, Kris grasped his wrist.

“Suho.”

Suho paused to look at Kris.

“Do you regret everything...?”

This time, it was Suho’s turn to laugh whole-heartedly. The angel confidently shook his head as he squeezed Kris’ hand. Suho’s gaze softened with affection as he tiptoed to kiss Kris as an answer.

“How could I regret when you complete my soul...?”
