something worth posting about

If there's any chance at all for you to be in London this month, take it. And then go see the production of 'The Alchemist' playing at the Royal National Theatre. We saw it in its first night of previews last night and it was completely, utterly brilliant. I don't know if I've ever enjoyed myself that much at a theatre ever before (even counting the sing-a-long-a Rocky Horror Picture show in rural Essex, and the gorgeous puppet version of the Hobbit that I saw when I was 7). Watching classically trained actors of the calibre of Alex Jennings, Simon Russell Beale and Ian Richardson having *so* much fun on stage is pure delight. The play was perfectly cast, the set and costumes were exactly right (the footware choices were genius, Alex Jennings with painted toenails and a toe ring is a sight that will keep me smiling for a long time) and the whole joyous thing only cost 10 pounds. The first line of the play is a fart joke. What more could you want?

Also, the Tate Modern's Kandinsky exhibit is smashing, but you didn't need me to tell you that. I heart the Tate Modern. I'd go there every day if I could.

Now I'm off to Portobello Rd to spend my last 20 quid before I leave. I've already bought 5 new pairs of shoes/boots this trip. Maybe I'll make it 6?
