Patrol Four: The Major General On Wheels

[The idea of utilizing rollerskates in battle just wouldn't leave Olivier alone. So, it isn't odd when she finds herself at the department store trying a pair on for size. Once they're purchased, she makes her way to the park.]

(Miss Pauling's still trying to get her bearings around Mayfield. However, when she gets to the park, she sees a strange blonde woman flailing around madly on a pair of wheels. Immediately, she stops to watch.)

There are skates in this place? I wonder where she got them from?

(She'll wait until the lady takes a break, before walking up to her.)

Excuse me miss, but where did you get those roller skates?

[Olivier looks up from where she sat down at the bench by her shoes.]

The department store downtown.

Alright, thank you very much.

Are you just learning how to skate, Miss?

[She nods]

I thought it was a skill that might come in useful.

True. I used to go to work in my skates actually. (Not anymore though, the Administrator had given her a stern talking to about bringing toys to work.)

Do you want some tips on how to skate?

[She considers the offer for a moment, then nods. What harm could it do?]

Sure.

Excellent.

(She proceeds to give the stranger some general tips about skating for beginners.)

And that's about it, really. It's all about lots of practice and hard work. Most people think that skating's easy, that it's just like walking with wheels. But then again, most people forget how long it actually took us to learn how to just make those first few baby steps.

[Olivier nods in agreement.]

Practice and hard work is something I am well know well.

[She holds out her hand, wobbling slightly on the skates with the movement.]

Major General Olivier Armstrong. You can contact me at 851 Goldberg Street or the flower shop if you ever need some combat training.

(Miss Pauling gives her a handshake, but makes sure to hold her hand firmly to keep her on balance.)

It's a pleasure. My name is Miss Pauling and I just got here, so I'm still adjusting to the town. For future reference, what would you like me to address you as?

Most people call me Major General or Sir, some even Ma'am, but that's up to you.

Very well then, Ma'am. It's been really nice to meet you. Have you been in Mayfield long then?

Not that long, only a month,at least that I can recall. Apparently, I was here for a while before, but I have no memory of it. Some people have been here two years or more.

How long have you been here?

I just got here Ma'am, so I'm currently trying to learn what I can of this place.

Actually, if you have the time I'd like to ask a few questions.

Seems like a fair trade. Ask away.

(Miss Pauling nods, before she looks around the area carefully just to make sure that HE wasn't there before she asked her question in a very quiet, hushed voice.)

I've recently met a man called "The Major". I've heard many things about him, but I'd like to know your opinion, seeing as you're both in the army.

[She's pretty sure she senses a bit of fear about this guy.]

Aside from some sort of announcement that he is now a police officer, I haven't heard anything about him. But, if he is only a Major, I have rank over him.
