I'm 18!

Gosh, I feel so grown up =]

Saturday I had a little party.

It didn't go quite as planned. Due mostly to the fact that certain people like to invite themselves and everyone they know to other people's parties. I'm not going to name any names, but after they left was when the real fun began.

Nick came 1.5 hours early to help me blow up balloons. The living room floor was literally a sea of white, black, purple, and blue balloons, about thigh-deep. Which gave off a pleasant glow from the black lights. I was planning on throwing my own private rave with glow sticks and everything.

But as I mentioned, it kinda sucked with uninvited guests all about. My Memere Vezina and Aunt decided to show up unannounced with my little cousins. Did they not think perhaps I might have made plans for my 18th birthday? Now it is important to know that this is the mean Memere, not the nice one. And those two have not once come to visit us on my birthday. They never visited on any day for any reason for years and years. I suspect their reasons for rekindling the family ties would have something to do with us having our own house now. They just couldn't be seen with our ghetto asses before. My mother also thought it was odd and was not happy to see them either. What makes it worse? They didn't remember what day my birthday was or how old I was when they were here . . they thought it was the 18th or something. Point is, they don't even like us! I don't want them here! The NERVE. And the little kids, they haven't been over to visit once in their entire lives, so I guess that's like what? At least 6 years since they last decided to visit? I like the little kids, but that's just to give you an idea of how often they visit. PAH. Basically, about half the people at my party weren't wanted.

About 10:00, when we got rid of everyone who wasn't supposed to be there, the hope of a decent rave was lost. So we all piled into Alyssa's car with lots of blankets and went to the park. Now, she decided to let Nick drive, which I thought from the beginning to be a bad idea, and I voiced my concerns to her several times before we got into the car. I mean, when he arrived at my house earlier that evening he was going on about what a horrible time he had driving over and how he thought he may have hit a car v.v ugh. But Nick, being the arrogant show-off that he is, decided to drive Alyssa's car anyway.

So, we arrived at the Bailey School and played in their icy play ground for a while. Alyssa and I reminisced about recess over the frozen sand box a bit. After a few minutes Alyssa began to get frightened because she thought she saw someone walking towards the park, and it reminded me of the legend of the "Crazy Hobo Who Lives in the Woods" from 3rd grade. Staring into the black woods I thought about the last time I was there, which was probably around a year ago. I never believed the hobo story, but I knew someone much more unpleasant lived in there, just few feet beyond my vision. Funny how people change, just a year ago we would have wasted no time in calling him out to join us in our Birthday Adventures. But I guess that's how life is, full of disappointments and disappointing people. No one else saw this mysterious figure of hers, but seeing as Alyssa was already halfway back towards the car, we all decided to follow her.

From there it was on to IHOP. (After driving around for some time, trying to decide what do, and detouring through grave yards to scare the bejesus out of Ianna.)I think Ianna and Mike became good friends that night, they could not stop talking with each other. Which is good, cause we're all going to have to be well acquainted by the time we go to Canada together. There was some poking fun at the fact that I still look 15 years old. A fact I was unaware of before then, and it has been bothering me ever since, actually. I don't like looking like a little kid =[ . . .

Anyways, we arrived at IHOP. I listened in on some Brazilians' conversations for them, because they were all curious. We started our own a Capella group, specializing in 60s boy bands' music, apparently. I split the most delicious blueberry pancakes I have ever had with Nick, and Mike had about 3 cups of coffee, each containing an entire tables worth of sugar. He had been falling asleep when we arrived but by the time we left he was so awake he was falling over in the parking lot.

Then we got back into the car and began to drive towards my house. But as I've mentioned, Nick is a terrible driver and an idiot who can't take direction and does not know his way around Lowell to save his life. So, he basically missed every turn we told him to take. Then, when we were almost home, waiting at a red light, a fire truck came down the street with it's sirens on. Nick tried to pull over, but ended up blocking the truck MORE. Then he tried to back up, despite the fact that we all told him not to back up, and he backed up into another car.

Alyssa's not in too much trouble, but Nick was not nearly apologetic enough. Jerk.

In other news, the job search goes terribly. I've been accepted to another college, U Mass Dartmouth. and . . I'm terribly terribly poor for an adult. Not to mention I look 15 v_v
