We Find Our Way

Once upon a time, she thought her friendships could withstand anything; later, after the Salvatore brothers enter their lives and her world makes a swift turn to the confusing and unrecognizable, Bonnie learns even she has her limits.
"So," she says, leaning against the windowsill, "Caroline's making an honest effort."
He nods.
"I don't believe you," she says, and there's another lie for the count. "You shouldn't be hiding these things from me. I was - I am her friend."
Stefan sighs. "Is that want you what me to do, lie to ease some of the pain? It is difficult for her but she's making due, an honest effort." He turns his head and looks down at the floor. "That's why I am here. She wants to see you again... to talk."
"She's a vampire, Stefan," she says. "How can I trust her when I know what she's capable of? I've seen it in Damon. I've seen it in you. Caroline's my friend but that doesn't change what she is."
He wrinkles his forehead and stays quiet for awhile. "Just trust me, Bonnie. Trust me enough to help."
"I am," she replies. "I made that ring, didn't? Don't make me regret my decision."
"Then start trusting her."
