Oh god. Please, please believe me when I say I did not type this long entry out all in one sitting. It was a week's process-a long proper week's process. I even documented my progress on Tumblr and Twitter multiple times. I have proof. I can show you the receipts. I also may have driven myself mad plenty of times while writing and cried blood but ( Read more... )

Oh lord, so many of your feelings are my feelings it's ridiculous. Okay, so for the shows on here that I have watched/got caught up with. First up FRINGE. OH MAN JUST NO WORDS. I LOVE THIS SHOW I LOVE IT SO MUCH. You're so right when you say that it's scifi but there's something else to it that makes it so watchable? Just, the chemistry of the cast and the quality of the acting make this show so wonderful to watch.

NIKITA! First of all Maggie Q is actually just, I love her, I love everything about her. I entirely ship Jaden/Thom which is compounded by the fact that I don't care about Alex at all. And I understand what they're doing with Alex, a way to show us inside Division and thus let us learn more about Nikita from that angle, but I dislike how much play she gets? If that makes sense? Because I am watching this show for it's fantastic Asian leading lady and thus I would like the Alex angle to played down a little? IDK. For a show that's titled 'Nikita', Nikita herself doesn't get much airtime.

UNDERCOVERS. OH GOD I AM SO PLEASED WITH THIS SHOW. That's pretty much the only way I can describe it because it just pleases me. It's funny, it's cute, there are spies and Gugu is just flawless, I love her. I love the tone of the show so much, because it is so light and fresh but still based heavily in emotional motives. ALSO LENS FLARE. I WAS LEGIT SO EXCITED WHEN I SAW THE LENS FLARE. THAT COMES SECOND ONLY TO WIDE SHOTS AND LONG SHOTS IN: THINGS I LOVE ABOUT DIRECTION.

L&O:UK I AM SO GLAD THIS SHOW IS BACK IN MY LIFE. I watched it on and off when it aired but when it came around this time I was determined to keep on top of it and just, I really really love it.

Finally, I completely understand what you mean about HBIC etc because I've been noticing this trend atm? And it disheartens me because I use the term HBIC not because these women are necessarily physically tough or anything, but because they just have a strength of personality about them and a will that I find inspiring. So it's this awkward moment when I remember that there's this disconnect from what I mean when I use it and what the internet at large uses it for and it's just so depressing, because it comes back to this competition about women characters are only inspiring if they are a certain way WHICH IS JUST SO WRONG. It's the same thing for 'fierce' for me, because I've always used it in the dictionary sense of there being a ferocity or fierceness about the person, and that can be loud and violent, or it can be quiet and steely but it's there. And then the internet has it's own definition and just, ugh internet. Why do I deal with you.

IF I COULD KISS YOU RIGHT NOW I SO WOULD. It's been a pleasure having everyone understand what I am getting at with HBIC. It was an interesting concept at one point but everyone has used it for their own hateful reasons that I can't support the term without giving myself some internal side eye. I hate having that awkward disconnect with the term. I hate awkward disconnects period so I often try my hardest just to avoid using the term since I can never tell how others are using it. IDK. I just wish fandom would stop making up their own definitions of things. We would lose what makes fandom fandom but I would, at least, know where everyone is coming from without having to do some serious second guessing.

But, yes, TELEVISION! I am glad you also understand what I am getting at regarding Fringe. You just can't write it off as a 'sci-fi' series because it's more than that. I didn't mention it above but I love the Walter-Astrid relationship as well. They just have the best friendship ever and they developed a strong almost father/daughter bond. Like, again, when she offered her help in 2.21 Northwest Passage, I got seriously misty eyed. I can't with this show. It's so strong and perfect.

Seriously about Nikita. I think I would like the show more if they stopped focusing in on Alex so much. I get why they are doing it but I don't honestly care for her character. I just want to see Nikita being awesome and ffs it doesn't even feel like she's the principle character in her own show. What.

YES I AM LOVING THE POSITIVE REACTIONS TO UNDERCOVERS ON MY FLIST. Everyone is my friend for a reason and you lot are continuously proving why you are the best. I cannot wait to see Undercovers grow into its own tbqh. I know when it finds it's groove, it'll be fantastic.

LOUK is seriously my life line.
