Terry's dreams were troubled by a little nagging voice similar to the ones a lot of people had been hearing lately. The difference was that he'd brought this one in with him, and he'd be leaving with it.

McGinnis. You couldn't possibly be handling all of this worse. People need a Batman, huh?Batman wiped his forehead, shaking the dreams and the ( Read more... )

Phoenix's own stomach is growling as he follows Terry through the doors, so the sight of tables upon tables of food is a welcoming sight.

Wait. No it isn't.

"Oh God. This is going to be a very long day, isn't it?" he groans as he looks around him.

Akihiko's stomach answers Phoenix's. He sends up a brief thanks to Kaa, who had warned him about the dangers of Nexus food at the party, before everything went to hell. He doubts he would've been able to resist the sight of the food otherwise.

"I get the feeling we're being toyed with."

The good news, she realizes, is that no one was eaten while they were asleep.

...The bad news being that they're still here, and that buzzing in her head still hasn't gone away. Dieu, this is going to drive her mad before the day is through.

She has just enough time to make sure her shoes are still on, and grab her steel pipe before following the three to...Wherever it is they're going. It at least looks a step up from the wilderness, and-

There's food. Lots of it, and she's realizing how empty her stomach is at the sight of it.

"...Well, what I would like to say is that this solves our problem very easily." She glances at the others. "But obviously, you don't agree?"

"Never eat the food in the Nexus, and never eat food offered to you by someone who is obviously insane. I'd recommend you follow that advice, it's managed to keep me alive so far." Batman frowns, tapping his foot on the ground. "We'd be better off looking in the forest."

Phoenix nods. "And it looks like we can still go back... maybe we should get some provisions before we move any further. This stuff in here's entirely too tempting." That one roast chicken over there in particular... no no, shake it off, Phoenix. Bad boy.

"Do we want to try to hunt something, or to scavenge from the ruined stalls?" Akihiko sighs. "The stalls are probably picked over by now, so I doubt we'll get the easy option."

Mitsuru tenses up when she hears the newcomer talk, and her eyes narrow at him. She didn't ask for a lecture, and-

"Fine." She says shortly, and cuts off that train of thought. As if to back up her souring mood, her stomach gives another hungry growl. "But I still think it's a bad waste..." Her eyes flicker over where a generous slice of cake is, and she finds that she just can't help herself. She's been sleeping on an empty stomach all night, after all.

Her hand stretches out towards it, and brushes up close to a plate of whole, steamed fish. There's an angry hissing noise, and suddenly her hand yanks back, away from the whole arrangement as several things try to snap off her fingers.

"In a place like this, it seems anything offered so willingly is nothing but death on a plate." Kristoph ate a very satisfying lunch and dinner, and also had some food at the block party, but a late-night snack didn't sound bad at all. But perhaps it would be better if it happened after everyone has escaped here and he can oversee the production of the food. "Hunting may be a better idea - hopefully we can burn anything too dangerous out of the meat."

Hunting sounds like it'll make him sweaty and blood, though, and a faint frown traces across his face when he realizes it. There's few things Kristoph hates more than being filthy.

Hopefully his Eldritch will help out. "You can have some, if you want," he says to Mitsuru. "But I do not want to be the mouse caught in the trap."

Terry frowns at Kristoph -- guy's starting to creep him a little -- before smirking at Mitsuru. "Told you so."

"Hunting sounds like a plan to me. It's easier than try to guess what plants we can eat, anyway."

PHOENIX could've told Terry that Kristoph is a creepy motherfucker. Then again, he's biased.

He jumps as the things snap at Mitsuru. Once he gets his bearings again, he adds, "Yeah, and whatever's out there can't be any deadlier than what's in HERE, apparently."

She only just catches that smirk, and the reprimand. Mitsuru's eyes are still fixed on the table, and there's a roaring sound building in her ears. There's also red creeping in on the corners of her vision, and it doesn't seem to be from her hair.

Mitsuru Kirijo is not in the mood for this; either for getting her appetite or her expectations played with, and she's ready to let some of that vent out.

[Go on, then.]

She doesn't question that thought, and is more focused on swinging her pipe into the air, and then back down on the first plate that snapped at her. Then the next, and the next. Dishes are left shattered, the table top dented, and the food splattered into paste.

"Mitsuru! Get a hold of yourself!" Akihiko snaps at her. Now who's being impulsive? "Damn it, we have to keep it together if we're going to get out of here alive!"

And speaking of that, Akihiko suddenly catches a glimpse of two waiters moving towards them. He wrinkles his nose at their monstrous appearances, then squares his shoulders and prepares to apologize for the disturbance.

That's when the the closer waiter's stitches unravel with a sickening 'pop', revealing rows of razor sharp teeth as the mouth stretches open wider and wider.

Akihiko stumbles back. "Uh, guys? Run or fight?"

Kristoph watches those teeth appear and he knows there is probably very little hope for them. He has no desire to run with them, and he is sure that he can easily catch up with Phoenix later - or maybe not, it doesn't matter - but either way, it isn't worth running. For one, he'll get sweaty and his hair will fly out of place, and secondly, it isn't worth dying.

No, certainly not. Kristoph's to-do list does not include death or panting in exhaustion.

There is, of course, an option, and one that he fully intends to use. That sick feeling around him flares again, and there's even a strange yellow glint in his blue eyes, turning them a sick shade of green. His vision slips, and it still hurts to look through dimensions; humans eyes weren't built to see in between height and width. But he can see it, and he reaches into that space. It's a really nice place to be, between dimensions, because when all distances are the same, he can be pretty far pretty fast. He grabs those lines, and his head hurts, but he yanks height and width around ( ... )

Terry draws a few Batarangs, crouching into a defensive stance, and then starts backing away. "Might as well run. It's not doing a whole of good sticking around anyway, right?"

He throws them at the waiters, hoping the explosions stun them long enough to give the group a running start. "I've got you covered."

Phoenix catches Kristoph's disappearing act out of the corner of his eye and swears a bit. That little bastard, leaving just like that... but he's not really shocked at all.

He nods. "Running is good. I am fully in support of running," he says, already turning to do so. Monster waiters. Great. Today was already turning out to be FANTASTIC.

One of Mitsuru's eyes briefly flickers over Akihiko, and for a second there's nothing of her in that glare. But that only lasts a heartbeat, if that.

Then, she's aware that those...very odd looking waiters from before are interested coming over, and their mouths are looking even more sick then usual.

And for a moment, that rage washing through her head gets drowned out. First, by the fact that they are in a very bad spot. And the second, when she looks over the waiters again, is the realization that this is not a proper staff.

"I...Running might be in order." Although wouldn't cutting their way out be much more satisfying? She flicks off any left over bits of food from her improvised weapon, and wavers between whether to go for the exit, or trying to elbow her way out.
