When they make it through the door, it takes a moment for the musky heat of the place to really hit Changeling, as his senses are still numbed by the cool absence of feeling in the blue fields they've just left behind. Everything back there felt vague and soothing, whereas here it all feels hot, almost feverish with urgency. It's like the opposite of diving into a bath of ice water, but it's equally effective for getting him to wake up by stimulating his senses.
Maybe stimulating them a little too much, he thinks as he takes in the seedy surroundings and shadowy figures.
