Why do I have so many Sho gifs?
I am alive!
Roar! Having turned in this paper, I guess I can say I'm finally free from the fall semester. There are two classes I'm worried about but, at this point, there's not much use in dwelling. So from now on I'll try to cheer up. ♥ While I was moping around and being generally lame, I missed a whole ton of birthdays. :( So Happy (Belated) Birthday to:
elementree,
omnipresentdmat,
astrangerenters,
hakeer, and
augustfai!! Since I am a giant ball of lame, you guys shall get a drabble from me, if you want one
So ask away! It's seriously the least I can do. I am a terrible LJ friend.
I had so much I wanted to say! The moment's passed, though. It's a mix of both forgetting and not wanting to say it.
Stress leads to
1. The bedspread is like nothing I have seen before. It is as though the stars clustered across the skies winged down and scattered themselves upon it; look, Sagittarius would dance by one’s ankles and Sirius would shine brightly by one’s eyes. Saturn might perhaps be there if you hold it rightly and the light glints off its purplish rings. On very rare days the sun’s solar flare washes across the black of it and paints licks of oranges along the stitches. This bedspread is a dark, deep black, like the nighttime sky over a barren desert, but it shines and sings with the resonance of exotic particles. It seems cold, but touch it near the whiteness or blueness of a star and it will be warm on even cold winter nights when all the candles have gone out and the servants have begun shivering in their own bunks, ankles bare and dirtied from the act of ditching old water. Kings have no use for it; it is those who serve in the Court that have taken the liking to comparing their bedspreads and finding patterns in the stars (laughing, quite gaily, “Oh, that does indeed look like an unclothed woman, pray you do not show it to the King’s daughter or we would become the ass’s joke.”) It is sold in the bazaars of Creotoria, where the makers of bedspreads can capture anything from a piece of space to a piece of Mars; indeed, they quite casually brought this piece of space down and stitched it together until one could touch it with a hand. If you hold it up in the sky in a quite particular location it blends in seamlessly. Quite a marvelous bedspread, travelers say, all considered that Creotoria has not much more to offer than such plain pieces of space or Mars.
2. It's amazing how detachment begins as detachment and ends as detachment, staying firmly detachment in the middle and holding that state tightly all the way through. It's like a little girl who pouts because she thinks it'll get her what she wants; that'll stay with her throughout her whole life, when she's a woman crooking her painted lips at men. It's like a little boy who throws a tantrum because he knows it'll get him what he wants; so it'll be when he's a grown man, drinking beer on the couch and throwing things at his beleaguered wife. That's just the way it is, detachment. It's unnoticeable. It stays locked up in houses and prowls out in the streets and a policeman's eye might stick on it, for a little bit, but ultimately it will crawl on to the nearest speeding car.
Nobody wants to notice detachment.
Nobody, nobody, not even the little girl who will be a woman or the little boy who will be a man. They are perfectly content with it, in fact, with swishing hips or angrily taking a hold of those hips and shoving them against a wall. What a sad fact of life it is that it is a fact of life. We might paint pictures of prettier realities and even that is detachment from detachment. But we're detached for a good reason. Were we to care, we would be forever troubled.
