I used to be really adamant about not having a fic journal--I probably just wanted to be 'different' :D--but I'm finding it really, really useful. I like tagging things and having all my fic organized in one place. It was definitely a hassle to put together because I reposted everything--and I mean everything, even going as far back as my Harry Potter days. You wouldn't have to do that; linking back to here is fine. Really, it's all on whether or not you want to spend a few hours moving everything to a new place. It was just a personal preference for me.
As for Adult Notification, I don't really remember how I dealt with that...I must've just stuck with default settings, because I didn't think about it at all. The only thing is that if you visit your fic comm and you're not logged in, it'll give you a warning, but all you have to do is click 'let me see it anyway' and it's accessible. So it's not a huge deal or anything.
But 'date out of order' doesn't work in comms. :( SADNESS, because I was relying on it so! At least, it didn't work when I was trying to get a sticky post at the top of my journal. I'm assuming that's what you're referring to...maybe?
