Sicker 'n a Dog

I was shopping at Target with my sister today when I coughed. And broke a rib.
The wave of pain was so intense I was instantly assailed with dizziness. There is background as to how a simple cough became a fractured rib. Here's my pathetic story.

In the beginning of October I got sick. Real sick. Temperature was high, nausea was felt and I got a horrible cough. The nausea and temp went away but the cough didn't.

I didn't see the doctor even though 2 weeks of faithfully taking cough medicine did nothing. My 'rents got worried and wanted me to see the doctor. I was in denial. Cough sort of would go away, but then it would come back.

About 2 weeks ago I felt a pain in my left side, but I ignored it. I saw an ad for Mucinex so I bought that and it sort of worked. Well today I suffered for my stubborness. . .I coughed and heard AND felt a hard *POP*. I almost passed out then. The sound of my rib cracking sounded like a loud back crack.
I felt a flood of warmth on my left side and every time I coughed it felt like I was being stabbed in the chest and back. I actually TASTED the acrid taste of pain. Yes, pain DOES have a taste, and it's REALLY bitter. I went to the ER and had x-rays.

Here was my diagnosis:
Fractured rib
PNEUMONIA (I carried it for almost 3 months)
Asthma (apparently wheezing is NOT normal)

My Medicine:
Flovent
vicodin
zithromax
albuterol

Moral of story folks: If you have a cough for more than 2 weeks you probably have something MUCH worse than a cough. Get thee to a doctor fast 'cause nobody should suffer pain like this.
