Need to Get a Feel

I just read Pleasure for Pleasure, by Eloisa James and I must say it's pretty decent fare. The heroine is Josephine "Josie" Essex, and the hero is Garret Langham, Earl of Mayne "Mayne".

The book starts off with Josie being depressed because she has recently debuted in Society, but she isn't succesful in finding suitors. In fact, she is called the "Scottish Sausage" by a spurned suitor, and the name caught on. The only men who dance with her are the ones persuaded by her married sisters. Her only hope is to catch a husband by "special means".

What she doesn't realize is that she's actually a voluptuous beauty who only received the horrible nickname because she tries to restrain her natural curves by using a torturous corset known as "The Corset". Enter Mayne.

Mayne is the epitome of what Society gentlemen should be. He is handsome, rich, and titled. When he sees a distressed Josie he brings her back to his place and he teaches her that she is much better without "The Corset". Josie experiences her first flush of desire, but their is one problem: Mayne is already engaged. She is the slim, elegant, charming Sylvie de la Broderie.

How will these two find love?

Well, read Pleasure for Pleasure and find out.

Now I have a few rants.

1.) In the first Essex Sister book, Much Ado About You, Josie is 15 and Mayne is in his mid-30's. In PFP Josie is 19 and Mayne is STILL 35. I wish time stopped for me like that.

2.) There was a little too much emphasis on Griselda (Mayne's sister) and her love interest. Griselda's story took up whole chapters, and because of this I feel that this isn't wholly Josie and Mayne's story. However the author might have intended this as she wanted to wrap up the series, and Griselda was a VERY prevalent character throughout.

In other news

I've decided to wait for a translation of 136 of Fruits Basket to be released before I get into my fic, since I'd like to get a feel for the relationship.

I would like to see what Kunimitsu is saying in the bubbles because I think that his observations are going to reveal the nature of the Kazuma/Saki relationship.

I have a strange feeling that their relationship is somewhat subtle in public, but their private life is probably NC-17 ^ ^

I definitely think there IS a relationship and that Kazuma returns Saki's feelings, because in 135 he tells Kyo that he knows how Kyo feels. He refers to it as "that feeling".
