I have my merit 4 test at work on Sunday, if I pass it’s just over a pound extra an hour and I am then an inspector not a dealer. I really hope I pass, it’ll make things easier for me when I move to Leeds because I’ll be on more money and it’s more responsibility, so when I apply for teaching I can say how I have helped and guided new dealers, well you know I’ll make something up, about the job relating to teaching anyway. Speaking of teaching I have been on a few sites for Leeds, so there are a few things I can apply for, like graduate teaching and what not.

I have been really enjoying the football of late; I think I get a bit overexcited when I watch it though as I start shouting at the screen. Oh well that’s part of the fun. I will be going to watch the match on Saturday, and maybe paying a visit to play I think, it’s the summer and everyone is off college/uni so hopefully I will see a few old faces.

I have decided on a dissertation topic, so that is going to keep me busy over the summer, I am going to loot at ‘How 19th century British gothic novels emphases and amplify the problems and concerns of the time’. What I mean by this is how the industrial revolution, progress in science and thoughts on religion are portrayed in these novels as something to be fearful of, for example medicine and science in Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, religion in Frankenstein, the obsession with art and beauty in A picture of Dorian Grey. I also want to focus on the dream sequences in these novels, using a psychoanalytic approach and use Freud’s Interpretation of dreams. Well that’s primarily idea anyway.
