My gf taught me the very basics of Photoshop and I couldn't help make icons. Tonami icons! 13 icons of Tonami from Elisabeth 2007. I hope you like them. Do not hotlink, save to your own server. Please credit maleroleactress if you use them. Thanks and enjoy! XD

I'm going to steal #2, 9, 10 if you don't mind ;) Haven't decided which ones to put on my journal, but I'm sure I'll figure something out. I have a lot of empty icon spaces and at least a few of them should be filled with Tonami!

I hope it's okay to give a little constructive criticism. One of the things I had to learn about icon making is that at times it's best to keep it simple, even if you feel like you're not doing much. I see a lot of icons where the creator thought that putting it through an extreme color filter would make it better, when it really may have been better with less alteration.

In the case of this batch, I wonder if #1, #6 and #11 would have been better without the flare? It's a little distracting. That being said, it works really well in some of the other ones and helps to convey the ethereal mood of Elisabeth.

That being said, these look very, very nice, and quite a bit better than my first icons! (Not that my icons are particularly great now, so I really hope I don't sound high and mighty attempting to give advice ^^;)

Snagging icons is always okay. ♥

And so is constructive criticism. I completely see your point about the flare being somewhat unnecessary and rather distracting the icons mentioned and if I get to go back and redo them, I'll probably not include the flare at all. As you said... simple can be the most eloquent. However, I just had to try it out and since it was late, I made a few rushed decision and they ended up looking like this. The flare is just a bit too much, but it will do for now. :) I do hope to improve more in the future.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and be so nice about everything.

+1 re: lens flare.

Alternatively, get some textures with lights (esqaire has the most beautiful light!textures I've ever seen, though they should probably be approached with caution because they're way too shiny and I end up going overboard) and use those instead - textures are made to be softer than the lens flare filter in photoshop, generally offer more colouring opportunities, and tend to light up the whole icon instead of just the one section so that the tone of the icon stays consistent.

Also, definitely +1 re: these being much much better than my first icons! And some of my current ones, haha.
