open your mouth
swallow down those tiny containers
of bird seeds
pills in bright colours
yellow and pink
anonymous drugs
clad in fancy names
open your mouth
on autopilot
breakfast at six
or seven if they are too slow
and you are too fast
no lunch, never lunch
no hunger, never hunger
but noon is for sleeping
for keeping to yourself
dinner
tasteless
stuff going in
fish, meat, vegetables
one or the other
impossible to tell apart
open your mouth
breathe
slowly
open your mouth
cry
loudly
no control over your lips
over your tongue
over your vocabulary
open your mouth
describe
explain
tell
silence says nothing, they say
actually, silence says it all
open your mouth
talk about depression
let others into your darkness
they can help you
they only want what’s best for you
open your mouth
lips pressed together
i talk about nothing
creating a wonderful
and loathed distance
it’s a wall
not another brick
just a wall
you can touch it if you want
the grey concrete
the black abstract
but don’t expect me
to give you the grand tour
this wall is mine
and there’s no trespassing
because i want you to stay
in your green pastures
on the other side
this wall is mine
open your mouth
and talk about depression
i won’t
i can’t
so please
talk on my behalf
real life,
hospital,
depression,
poetry,
writing,
thoughts
