It's been a while since I've posted (what's new, eh?), so here's an update.
I'm still working at the vet clinic, but I've transitioned into working as a nurse instead of a receptionist. I'm very happy with all that I'm learning, and I'm loving working with the pets. It also seems to be a good fit for my tendency to start working and then just keep going for many, many hours. I'm currently at a four day work week, but those days tend to be 10+ hours. The biggest drawback is that my feet seem to be sore a lot of the time, even on my days off.
I dropped working at the theatre, and I'm not missing it. It was nice to get free movies, but having two jobs with unpredictable schedules was way too stressful.
What else? I've gotten to visit with my family more, and that's been great. :) My sister and nephew both spent a couple of days up here earlier this week. It was really nice. We visited the Maritime Museum and the Pacific Science Center, both of which were interesting. And I looked at the outside of the
Sci Fi Museum, which Jason and I will have to go check out. It's also got a music musuem attached. And we went camping with my dad, my brother and his girlfriend a few weeks ago. That was really nice, though a bit chilly (up on Mt. Hood).
And I've been re-reading Marion Zimmer Bradley's Darkover books, though I'm afraid I may be getting burnt out after reading something like 23 of them. I think there are fewer than a dozen left, though! I plan to move on to Stephen King or Anne Rice after that... unless I get sidetracked by something else first.
I also found a local group of people that get together and play board games every week. I keep meaning to go to one of their gatherings, but I haven't managed to actually make it happen yet. Some day!
Jason is still liking the area, and tonight he's going to check out a new dojo (though it teaches Chinese-based Gung Fu, so I'm sure that dojo is not the right word). He's also gotten into reading a lot (especially on his iPhone... he's loving that), and believe it or not, cooking.
And we've actually been watching a bunch of our dvd's, so some of the plastic wrapping have been coming off finally. :)
Kiva is doing pretty well. She's completely free of cones and dresses, but she does have a strip of missing/patchy fur on her back. Nothing like it used to be, though!
So... yeah. That's life right now. We're keeping really busy, and I'm amazed at how little of my time is spent online. Especially when I consider how much of my time used to be spent on various websites! I'm not missing most of it, though I am having a spot of trouble keeping up with what's going on with other people. But I'm actually really liking being more present in "real" life. It's good. :)
