Advice from the 4-hour workweek:
Focus on measurable things.
Maybe: brainstorm 1+ research question for each article on entitlement that I read.
Set deadlines. (Beat back procrastination.)
Implement: write a page a day (may need to wait) and read a paper a day.
Implement: stay on campus 9-5 every weekday. Do work for that period of time. The rest of the day is mine to do whatever I want. Clearly separate work and play.
Think about: a line of research to propose to Brad. Different mentorship will probably be a huge asset. This line of research can also focus directly on narcissism, which is awesome.
HEY: treat this as self-education. Bob's job is to facilitate, not to directly instruct or guide. MY job is educate MYSELF, and ask Bob for help along the way.
On quant psych: take the mathematical psych class in the spring. That should give me a feel for quant psych. If I keep feeling uncomfortable in social psych and really like that quant class, then consider seeing if I can switch. Talk to Robert about his research whenever I see him next. MAYBE--try to work with someone in quant psych on a line of research?
