On Sunday night, Si and I caught the first Stereophonics show. It was a great night, and it was good to go to a concert with a band that Si actually likes! And they were good. Very, very good. And as an added bonus, Atlas opened for them. A rather welcome surprise. I might have to buy their album at some stage!
The only downside was that we were usurped from our really excellent spot on the balcony by a guy who had apparently had a slight parachuting mishap and required a seat for the concert, they bought him in a sofa. So in the end we had to stand behind another bunch of people at the balcony, otherwise I might have actually taken a bunch of photos.
Setlist:

A Thousand Trees

Pick A Part That's New
Hurry Up And Wait

Local Boy In A Photograph
Encore:
Maybe Tomorrow
Dakota
Highlights:
-- Their accents. Broad Welsh accents that were oh so cute, and oh so difficult to understand sometimes!
-- It's also nice to go to a gig and see that the band all genuinely get along and enjoy what they're doing.
-- Maybe Tomorrow. It was just Kelly Jones and a guitar for a terrific solo, semi-acoustic encore.
-- Kelly Jone's voice. That man has range and power. It's one thing to listen to their album, it's another thing entirely to hear it live.
-- The bald brigade moshing. Amazing, really, that the majority of the crowd was older than us, and getting into it hard.
Christ, I just accidentally deleted a bunch of their songs off my ipod. Fuck.
Photos aren't from our show, but Kelly Jone's is wearing the same thing.... pictures borrowed from
