March is one of my favorite months; the snow melts away, the daylight lasts longer and the air smells fresher. It doesn't hurt that it's my birthday month too! Thus far this month I've been lucky enough to collaborate with multiple groups of talented friends on various projects, began taking photographs on film again after a winter lull, learned and practiced a lot of makeup for film (which is my favorite!), and plan to begin painting again. It's definitely looking up. Oh, and I got my first tattoo last week!
My brother Christian and his girlfriend Meghan came to visit during my March break.
We filmed a Doritoes commercial for their mystery flavor contest, but he is still working on the edit.
My friend Pat and I collaborated on a photo shoot last weekend with a bunch of friends. The theme: a sombre tea party in a colourful blanket fort.
Here is a group shot. It was a lot of fun and I really need to edit more of the photos!
Photographs from my little toy Blackbird Fly camera.
These are from the day of the photo shoot:
And these from home:
Special FX makeup has been a lot of fun. Here is some of the stuff we've been doing in the film segment.
WARNING: If you have a soft stomach, you may not enjoy these photographs very much.
Cuts, scrapes and scarification.
Burns. I did the charred one, the prof did the red one. They're kind of cute together.
Junkie arm!
Bullet hole.
Bald caps, only the ones we had in class to practice with are for theatre, so baaad for close-ups.
I did Cassandra's makeup, the girl on our right. Vanessa is just incredibly creepy.
Bearding. I had to take a myspace style photo of us, too ridic. I kind of miss my beard, it was warm.
I did Caitlin's mutton chops and lent her my aviators. Scary how good she looks.
And last but not least, my tattoo! It's not at the best stage for showing it off as it's peeling, ah well. I found out quickly that it's difficult to photograph without it looking warped, but it's not! I've been thinking of this tattoo design for a couple years now, and Philippe paid for it as my birthday gift. Antlers are significant to me for many different reasons, and I can't see myself regretting them. I also designed the antlers myself, so that helps.
I don't update this blog very much anymore, I think due in part to my twitter. It takes the need to update a full entry away, sadly, and mercifully too. I also post a lot of photos there of daily life. Feel free to follow me!
