Endicott Students Injured In Two Car Crash

There is a video there if you care to watch... its the college I attended... again, first my sister and now kids from my college... it just reminds me again that getting behind the wheel even after one drink isn't worth it...

Apr 9, 2006 7:12 pm US/Eastern Endicott Students Injured In Two Car Crash

(CBS4) BEVERLY A two-car crash on Hale Street early Sunday morning has left three people injured.

According to Beverly Police, all the injured people are students from Endicott College. One of the injured students, 23-year-old Christopher Atkinson of Bethesda, Md., was charged with drunk driving.

The crash was a head-on collision between a car driven by Atkinson and a car driven by Kacey Bongarzone, 21, of Hanson. Bongarzone had a passenger in her vehicle, Kristine St. Jean, 20, of Haverhill. All are Endicott College students.

Atkinson was medflighted to Beth Israel Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. Bongarzone has life-threatening injuries and is listed in critical condition at a Boston hospital. St. Jean has minor injuries.

Atkinson has been charged with OUI, negligent operation, causing serious injury, and marked lanes violation.

"We're talking to students as they come to us with concerns about what happened," said Daniel Volchok, of Endicott College. "We're very concerned that they were in the accident and how they're doing, and hoping and praying for their full recovery.'"

It's been a devastating day for many students at Endicott College. The school has counselors available all week to help.

The accident is still under investigation, said police.
