Watching Season 2 of Hannibal, and contemplating genderswap. Fem!Hannibal actually slots very easily into a very dark version of the "classy lady you really don't want to cross" trope. And I think she'd have an even easier time flying under everyone's radar than Man!Hannibal (Mannibal?) does, since when most people think "serial killer," they don't think "well-mannered female psychiatrist who gives lovely dinner parties," and her MO doesn't fit the more common female serial killer patterns.
