(no subject)
I always neglect this journal, but I guess that's because nothing outrageously exciting really happens in my life. I got to see Caroline this past weekend, which was the highlight of my week/month/year :)
Jeff and I are doing really well. Our apartment is coming together and I really enjoy living with him. (and he doesn't seem to be too tired of me yet.) He makes me ridiculously happy.. it's nice.
I got a job as a waitress at The Blue Moon, this cute little hippie restaurant in Shepherdstown. Jeff's a cook there so he kind of got me the job, and I love it so far. The employees are all pretty awesome people and the owners are soo relaxed, and make a point of saying that they care a lot more about their employees being happy than their customers. hah.
Other than that, not much is happening. School's over for the semester and I fucked up and got a C in one class, making my GPA for the semester a 3.33. To make dean's list you need a 3.4 so my parents were a little upset about that, but whatever. I put a lot of work off till the last week or two of school and then sort of hit a mental brick wall in terms of paper-writing, so everything was done with about half-effort. Oh well.
I'm signed up for some pretty exciting classes next semester. I'm taking Hispanic Poetry and actually helping develop the syllabus and choose who and what is read, so that will be interesting. That will also be my last Spanish requirement for the major, other than Peninsular Cultures, which I'm substituting for a Latin American History class that sounds really hard but really interesting as well. Hmm.. I'm taking 3 english classes for my minor, and I'm really excited about the Monday night class. It's a Survey of American Literature, specifically focusing on works regarding travel, so we'll be reading Kerouac and authors like that, which I love. The rest are just general studies that hopefully won't be too hard.
My brother, Joe, is getting married July 12. I'm a bridesmaid, and the wedding is now going to be really laid-back so I don't have a specific dress I have to wear. I just have to find something that's blue, which is turning out to be kind of hard. Oh well. I'm not the one getting married so it doesn't really matter if I look cute or not. I just want something really light because it's an outdoor wedding and it'll probably be about 800 degrees.
That's about it as far as updates. I'm just working and reading a lot, and spending a lot of time with the boyfriend. I've been writing and drawing a lot again, and I'm thinking about getting back into painting. It's just a matter of actually setting aside time to do it. We'll see if that happens any time soon.
