Christmas was great. Christmas Eve, Joe and Ellen came and brought their puppies :) Joe made amazing ceviche. I typically avoid raw seafood, and anything that has been near cilantro, but I must admit it was pretty great. We went to a family friends' house in Montclair, which is always like going into some weird time-warp for me. We all ate and drank outrageous amounts. Finally we went home and did our famous Costlow family gift exchange. Ridiculous, as always. No one makes me laugh as much as my family. I got some pretty neat gifts, and gave a few good ones too.
On Christmas morning, Joe made really great french toast with pannetone. mmm. and I was in charge of scrambled eggs, of course. And by about eleven am, everyone was drinking. How does that always happen in this house? Joe and Ellen left a bit later to do Christmas day with her family. Bummer, but understandable. I helped my mom cook a shit-ton of food, and we packed up and headed to Crofton, MD. gross.
My dad's side of the family is impossible to describe, and really only tolerable if you have a stiff drink in your hand. But it was a good time anyway. I got to see my twin cousins (who are turning 2 next month!!) and I got to laugh at silly things said by my grandparents, who repeatedly called me Audrey and introduced me as their niece. haha. Luckily we escaped there relatively early, came home, and drank lots of wine while listening to cheesy Christmas music.
Now I just can't waaaait for Sunday. Boyfriend is coming to watch the Redskins game, and staying Sunday night and Monday night. yay yay. I have neat presents to give him. I hope he can bring Lucy! <3 I'm just really excited to see him. I metro-ed up there on Friday and stayed the night, so it's not like it's been a month or anything, but I think Christmas makes it harder. I'm surrounded by family and friends that I love and have known all my life, and all I can think about is how badly I want to be wherever he is. lamelameI'msuchagirl.
Blah, I'm sure everyone had similar Christmases so it was pointless to go into so much detail here, but it's my journal, so whateva'. Time to go bake and clean and bother my mom. Happy week between Christmas and New Years!
