Uf, I feel a bit sorry for that depressive post. I think we don't only have a dark side but a light one, a fantastic any animal can even half equal. Another day I promiss to put my mind and look in a place I could see the brighter side of human being. I don't think we are just only a piece of shit as some say but we have to face our worse side from time to time as well. It is healthier except if we enter into a depressive closed circle.
I still have a lot of hope in the human beign (even you can't find nothing of that in my post, this is true) if I wouldn't I wouldn't replying you and feeling happy when you are happy and sad when you are sad. I received too much love and care from other human beings for that, I can't winging for that, really. Just, all it's ever more complex than we think.
On addition to the story: I was thinking that I am sure that she discovered how degenerated are so people when she were making his job as prostitute. I am sure any prostitute discovers this along her career, being with terrible men and knowing about their depravating tastes (children and all that). The difference between those girls (I am sure that the major part of them, as the major part of humans we do) they had to think "My good, I known some really sick guy doing my job. I am happy to see them far from me forever." while Enriqueta thought "Look, there is a part of this job isn't investigated yet. There are clients for this and nobody started that business for them. How I can't avoid to be the first to do it, if I am so pissed at the human beign that nothing imports me anyway?". In fact, who were the main part of women in a women jail then? prostitutes. And they were those prostitutes who lynched her because the repugnance they felt for that "old colleague" was excessive to resist. Even they make one of the most horrible action (to lynch somebody) they played as the most part of human beings we are in the side of "a certain kind of moral". Enriqueta was at the other side. A kind of genius if you want, but she was it in the way Hitler - for example - was (even it is a bad comparison because Hitler - being all the repugnant he was - was doing all he did by an ideal. A rotten ideal to say the truth, but an ideal after all. Enriqueta did it just by money and power.
If along the 20th century, Barcelona had been London, we had lots of movies about her, I am sure of it. Now we are in danger of being "too glamourous" and I have fear by the way a possible movie could be done, really :O

I really hate to say this to you, but the evil that lies in all humans is frightening. If people say something "depressing" to you, they may be just expressing their feelings on the issue. We all feel what we feel. Why pretend to think otherwise to appease people?
I'm sorry, I have tendency to jump to conclusions before I read the end of the message. I totally agree with you. We can all learn so much about the human mind by studying both sides

I didn't find your post depressing. If we are going to share the joys of this world it is important we do not look away from the horrors of it either.
