Movie: Doubt

So this is not a review, it's more of a rant. Cause I'm not going through every little detail in this movie. Well, the music was appropriate, the photography flawless and the silences were there when needed. blah blah blah. That's not the most important part. Mind you, this is going to be spoilerfest from the start, so If you haven't seen it and are planning to, It'd be better if you stopped reading now. Oh, another thing: I'm an atheist and think the worst things imaginable about the catholic church. So, you're all warned.

So, we have three main characters: the annoying bitchy nun, the doubtful priest and the stupid innocent nun.
Well, the annoying nun (aka mery streep, one of my favorite actresses) gets on your nerves for a good all 15 minutes or so, the director, screenplay writer or whatever wants you to feel annoyed by her continuous reproaches towards everyone that is not her. Well, I wasn't going to be fooled by that little trick. The woman had a point. And I took her side from minute one. Maybe because I admired her character or maybe because I'm biased towards the subject this movie deals with. WHATEVER
The stupid innocent nun doesn't know who to believe. She wants to believe the Father because, as Meryl streep said, it's easier and it
wouldn't destroy her little scheme of life. Then she starts having doubts when the possible victim returns from the priest's office looking ...how do I say it? a little raped? Oh, no, that's not it...well, he looks blue and his breath smells like alcohol (the bastard got him drunk to "mellow him up? damn!). So, she goes to her superior and tells her about the incident. They talk, get interrupted 100 times, and they finally decide to confront him together (which means, Meryl Streep is doing all the talking while stupid nun serves the pervert, tea...yeah, that's how it went, pretty much).
And well, the old fox had an ace up his sleeve. He says the little boy drunk the communion wine and he didn't want anyone to know cause then he'd have to kick him out of the altar boys...yeah, right. As it was expected, stupid nun believed him, smart, kickass nun, didn't.
The priest had this little annoying habit of writing his sermons based on what he felt at the moment and what bothered him about the people around him. So he talks about gossiping and how hurtful It is for the people involved. The stupid nun, is of course, touched by his words. He meets her outside, they talk, he tells how he "loves" people, God that sounded SO BAD coming from him, she says her brother's ill yadda yadda yadda.
Meanwhile, kickass nun decides to talk to the "perhaps abused" kid's mother. Long story short, her son is gay, his father beats him up for it, he has no friends and the only one who cares about him and treats him right is the priest. And SHE KNOWS he's being "MORE THAN KIND to his son. AND SHE 'S OK WITH IT. Some people sure are twisted.
But kickass nun isn't going to stop..oh no. She confronts the liar Father one more time, threatens him, tells him she called his to previous workplace?, talked to a nun, and is now well aware of his "past". The asshole tries to convince her he's innocent, and she shuts him up. He's a psychopath, and those kinds of people have no feelings of remorse. And she tells him so!
Finally, he leaves the church and the school...and gets PROMOTED!! Because, that's how it works...well, you get my point.
But what really pissed me off was the end. SISTER KICKASS HAS FUCKING DOUBTS!!! WTH?? She screwed it up!! It was clear as fucking daylight! I mean, maybe that kid Miller had the hots for the old guy, and no one cared and perhaps celebrated their love. But the blond kid? He felt disgusted and kind of frightened every time the priest meant to get a little closer. He took every chance he got to get as far away from him as possible. Only that is enough evidence not to have any doubts. SO WHY?

All in all, excellent movie. But, shitty ending.
If you have any complaints please, write them down!! I don't give a fuck either way!
Have a nice day ^ ^
