Fandom Snowflake Challenge - Day Two

See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
I was not able to restrict myself to three this time. :) (Actually, I'm pretty sure I'm forgetting some good ones - next year I have resolved to do a better job of bookmarking my favorites!)

It’s Kate being a big damn hero! This fic is one of my all-time favorites, and it’s one of those that’s had the most influence on how I see the characters. Neal’s love for Kate was always one of my favorite aspects of his character, and I’d always felt like anyone Neal loved that much had to be someone special, even if we didn’t get to see much of her onscreen. This is the fic that got me started thinking about who Kate was, herself, rather than just who she was to Neal - in the show we see her through Neal’s perspective, or through Peter’s, and both of those are rather skewed. gives a wonderful glimpse of a pre-series Kate who is flawed and human and inexperienced at this life but fiercely in love with Neal, and also gives a very realistic and convincing portrayal of a Neal&Kate&Mozzie team dynamic. It’s an action story and a wonderful character study and a heartfelt love story at the same time, and I love it!

This is a short fic and an older one - posted almost two years ago, I think - but it’s still one of my absolute favorites in the entire fandom. It’s a perfect character sketch capturing Neal and Peter’s relationship at that moment, and a brilliant extended metaphor that is almost poetry. I could quote my favorite lines but I’d end up quoting the whole thing!
The Weight of Water

It’s Diana being awesome and Diana and Neal working together and it’s beautifully descriptive of the water and the cold - I was shivering while reading it. frith-in-thorns’s Diana characterization is amazing, and I love how this fic portrays her relationship with Neal.

This is an older one but I absolutely adore it. It’s Neal and it’s 2.09 and it’s perfect. The song is perfect, and haunting, and will always be Neal to me, now. (I think my favorite part, though, is the scene near the end where it cuts away to June hugging Neal. Because OMG HE NEEDS ALL THE HUGS. Not that he would have accepted any, at that moment, but still.)
Dustland Fairytale

This is THE Neal/Kate vid for me. It’s absolutely gorgeous, and the song fits them so well, and it captures their dreams and their hopes and the tragedy of everything they might have shared but can’t, now. This is the vid that will always make me cry. It’s fantastic and it’s them and I love it to pieces.
