i'm pretty sure that nothing i can say right now can make you feel better. part of me wants to say that's because only you can change your own mind and i am powerless in that process. the other part of me knows that's crap because if we have no influence at all on other people's feeling then why the hell are relationships so important? i probably believe that i can't do anything because it makes me hurt less (no sense feeling bad, there's nothing you can do anyway). so aside from not really beliving that i can help at all, i will say this:
i don't think you suck. at anything. you work hard at everything you do and if by chance you don't work incredibly hard at something you at least feel bad about it which shows that you have some sort of integrity. you're pretty open about the fact that you base your self worth on your academic acheivements. it's a dangerous road my friend and i know from personal experience that it will end badly. that was my identity from 2nd grade through freshman year of college. the smart kid. in all the special classes and special programs, never had to work hard, absorbed everything and got all the answers right the first time. then came the real world and instead swimming i sank. hard. it messed me up in a big way to lose that identity and that part of myself. i still struggle with it to this day.
you are so much more than just a student. you are a daughter. one who puts up with needy parents and brothers who won't leave home. you are a friend. a funny, giving, witty friend who has the power to make people feel so special. you're a liberal. you have the drinking buddies to prove it. you're an activist in your own way. you know a thing or two about vermont politics and you're never afraid to speak your mind to flatlanders. you are passionate about so many things. italy, advertising, building a boat, bunnies, being completely organized.
don't put all your eggs in one basket. if you only focus on school then you let it rule your life. you're well rounded, but you're just not seeing it right now. pay attention to all the millions of other things that make you who you are and make you a valuable asset to this world and the people in it.
