Ok,
1. you do not suck at life, so there is no blank to fill in.

2. there is absolutly NO shame in being disappointed with yourself because you failed a paper . . . if you weren't upset THEN there would be a problem.

3. because being upset about this is normal, there is no need for an outside source, and even if there is . . . more people than you have that problem as well.

4. running to your father IS not in anyway shameful! you're not expected to deal with life on your own . . . we have people in our lives to make life better; they are there to help us through the tough patches and to celebrate with us the good things that happen.

5. the 85 is not a bad grade . . . it might seem like it with the failed paper, but it's certainly not bad. hell, you still have half of the semester to get all those professors to kiss your ass.

6. you should realize that you go to one of the most difficult and prestigious universities in the northeast . . . would you tell someone at harvard that an 85 is bad? because you go to the harvard of public schools.

7. go ahead and BE disappointed, but also realize that your failure reflects back on that professor ESPECIALLY in his/her lack of compassion and caring. if you do "not grasp the concept at all" then perhaps that teacher needs to do a bit more teaching . . . why the hell else would you be paying him/her?

8. because you like even numbers, and i'm not done: philosophy (at any level, 004 or 444) is THE MOST difficult subject. It's completely abstract, random, and i think stupid. but aside from all that . . . it's just hard.

so, the moral of the story,is you DO NOT suck at life, relationships, or anything else. jesus, you're only human. and i for one would be lost without you.
