[ SIIIIIIGH, she can't put this off much longer. Because Polka really really hopes the answer to her question is "no". There's a bit of aheming before she manages to actually say something, debating how to phrase her question. Finally, she settles on. Um... ha.. has anyone out there lost their New Feather cat? I'm looking after her

Hi Foot! [ Walking over to put the supplies down on the coffee table, there is sudden weight on her feet. Well hello there. She giggles again, kneeling to give Foot a more thorough greeting for a few hours minutes, since the presence of a kitty can easily distract someone from what they're doing. ]
I got you a few things - I hope you like them. Do you want to see?

[Foot seems to brighten up considerably at the mention of 'things'. She trails after Polka, looking up at her the whole time with wide, interested eyes.]

First off, I thought I'd get you a bed all for yourself. [ Even though Foot will probably sleep everywhere and anywhere, and everything is the property of a kitty now... ] Here, try it out.
[ And she sets down the dark blue cat bed- mostly an overstuffed pillow that she can curl up in. She'd thought about getting one of those cathouse types, but she couldn't carry it. :I ]

Approval is sealed as she seems to doze off.]

Polka grins - though with Foot curling up to apparently snooze, now she can' show off the other stuff. Well that's okay, she'll be real quiet instead as she unpacks a small ball with a bell inside, a catnip mouse, and then collects the rest of the bag, heading upstairs. Scratching post in her room, and then another one back downstairs. A pause to check on Foot, and then on to the kitchen. Cat bowls and food next. ]

[Although she seemed asleep, the jingling ball wakes her up, and as Polka heads upstairs, Foot unearths herself from the cat bed and stalks her new, shiny prey, sending it jingling merrily under a chair.
One Polka comes back downstairs, she'll find Foot trying to reach the ball, but once she hears the food...well, there she'll be. She's hungry. Oh boy is she hungry.]

I don't know what dry cat food really tastes like, so I hope this is okay; it's the only kind that they had. [ Here you go kitty, fresh food and water. ]

It actually smells very much like the dry food from home. Without too much hesitation, she starts to eat, tail still high and shaking slightly.]

I guess you like it huh? [ It didn't look all that appetizing to Polka, but then, she wasn't a cat. She reaches down to scratch Foot's spine lightly, and steps away to watch her eat, curiously. Oh, she should actually make some chicken soup for Frederic since he's not been eating well. Wait - no, beef stew. It's heavier. ]
So I heard your owner isn't anywhere in Luceti after all. [ It's totally natural to converse with a cat. Why are you looking at me like that. :I ]

Once she's had enough for the moment, she'll sit down and look up at Polka while she speaks. At the word 'owner', she murrs a little, and, when Polka looks to her, slowly, carefully, will shake her head 'no'. Her owner isn't here; else Foot would have felt her presence.
She wilts a little after that very human gesture.]

.. oh...! [ Don't be sad! ;.; Polka sets the meat aside and wipes her hands on the towel as as not to get meatjuice on the cat's fur. Then she knees to scritch Foot under the chin reassuringly. ]
I'm sorry, I know you must miss him or her terrible. It isn't easy to be taken away from your home like that. Especially if there's no one else around that you know. [ And then a smile. ] Chin up! I hear that people are sent back home sometimes, so you'll see them again. And until you do, I'll look out for you.
