Signs.

Last night, Trev and I had an excruciating drive down to Fairfax VA to see Phil Lesh and Friends at the Patriot Center. We got lost and lost faith, and finally ended up getting extremely lucky and getting off at an exit close to the street we wanted. When I finally spotted Braddock rd, I nearly made him make a wrong turn at the sign, instead of at the light. "Where, here?" "Yes!! NO!! At the light!" Indecision is very dangerous when you're the navigator.

But we made the show in plenty time and found our seats in the nosebleed. I sort of wished we'd had general admission so we could be down on the floor with the great crowd, but our section new how to rock. Obviously, the place was packed with aging hippies and their Next Generation hippie kids. I loved each and every one of them.

Now, when I was trying to finish my website for computer class (which I trust all of you have visited already...), I asked Trevor what a good Dead jam would be to put on the sight. He said, "Here Comes Sunshine." I'd never heard it before, so he played it for me and it was perfect. So I burned an MP3 version on a disc and took it with me to the help session to load onto FrontPage. I was extremely surprised when it worked. From then on, everything in that project worked. I had a good presentation, even though the song started up again every time I went back to the homepage, which was a little annoying. Then on the ride to the Patriot Center we listened to a great live version of it, and it was very happy. So we were sitting, waiting for the first song, and Trev asked me what I thought it was going to be. I never know what kind of prediction to make, I always found the game silly in that "how well do you know this band versus me" kind of way. So I just shrugged. Then, they started up the familiar begining of Here Comes Sunshine, and my mind was blown. Utterly blown.

That pretty much set the mood for the rest of the show. They also played Help On The Way into Slipknot, Sugaree (for the encore), and some other good shtuff. Trev bought me a T-shirt as my X-mas present, that's tie-dyed purple and has a cool design with a moon and stuff for the Shadow of the Moon tour. I drove home and we actually *didn't* get lost. I'm attributing that to the power of coincidence.

Today was a lovely, warm morning. I ate two bowls of Lucky Charms. I am knitting (which I finally learned how to do!!). I will have to write an album review of The Decemberists at some point before tomorrow. Trev and I will be attending the Christmas party at the alley cat later, like the little socialites we are. Hopefully it won't be as crowded as normal.
