US Presidential candidate debate of FAIL

The 'eloquent' shit is getting him in trouble too. From what I understand about the 'eloquent' bit - I don't know if you'll know this - but back when racial equality was first introduced, something in America that caused a lot of hoo-hah was white folks constantly remarking 'Gosh, you're so well spoken!' to people of colour. This might have been a valid comment in the years immediately following the equality, due to POC hvaing a significantly lower levels of education available to them, but the use of that comment still continued way past that time, until it pretty much became racist code for 'POC don't speak that way - you must have had a white upbringing, because 'normal' POC aren't capable of *insert something suitable here*'

Unsurprisingly, many people were Not Happy with this, given its patonising and, at times, racist and insulting tone, but to this day, a lot of white people can't understand why POC got upset - after all, they were playing them a compliment, riiight?

So, McCain's (repeated? Didn't he say it more than once?) remarks that Obama is 'eloquent' has been putting up certain backs in the US. Unfortunately his advisory cabinet is far too racially insensitive to work out *why* they're pissed.
