The answering of questions, from
this post Is there a published author(s) whom you'd say has influenced your writing in some way -- stylistically, content, theme, whatever?
Heh. Not so much. Writers I think of stylistically when I read me are mostly ones that irritate me to death. I don't quite understand how that works, but there it is. As to content, er, I don't know many published authors that write slashy smut. Heh.
What did you have to do to get a job in a library? It seems like a fantastic place to work, at least to me.
I've been working here very nearly half my life. I started as a student in September 1987, and I'm still more or less here, mostly because in my department three (of seven) full-timers quit in like six days, and I was walking in the door just when my boss was panicking. Heh. I've moved up about as far as I can, though I'm hoping something lateral will appear over in the main library where I wouldn't be bored to tears nearly so often.
What color hair and eyes do you have?
Hair: on its own is, I think, a fairly dull brown that tends toward red were I ever to hang out in the sun long enough. However, I haven't seen it, really, but for roots, in 20 years. In that time it's been anywhere from strawberry blonde to burgundy, always somewhere on the red scale except for one incident in which it went way dark without me having wanted it to, exactly. At the moment, it's pretty well in the middle, more or less darkish until I step into the sun, whereupon it's damn red. Eyes: hazel.
Do you sing in the shower?
Mmno. I don't sing to anyone but my kids, and not really them either, any more. When they were little, I would, but my dad's a voice teacher and I have issues about doing his thing and potentially not doing it well. And in the shower, people might hear me. I do, however, sit right under the speaker and sing along in the cycle glass at the gym. No one will hear me, due to adjacency of speaker, so that's okay. Also? When my kids were little I would sing whatever they asked, which means I often found myself lullabying them with the theme from the Simpsons or the X files, or any of the Star Treks or whatever else-I was not able to manage the theme from ER, but, uh, yeah.
1) You cook, you go to gym a lot and you write enormous amounts of fanfic. What did you do with your free time before you started to gym and write fanfic (these two started about the same time, didn't they?) Crafts? Reading? Sneezing?
2) Describe your children with three adjectives each (this is my very favourite question *grin*)
3) And since I'm a very stubborn person: Have you ever even tried to write a chaptered fic?
4) Does your husband know what you are writing and reading? If so, how does he react to it? *ducks the blow aimed at her*
*snort*. The gym is non-recent. I've been going off and on for ten years, though only really consistently for maybe 2.5. Hence the absurd amount of weight I can push around. I also read (still) and do the NYT Sunday crossword every week, and do other kinds of puzzles. I cook less than I bake, which I do very well, which is problematic because, yeah, cookies everywhere.
Kids: 1. obsessive, smart, mathematical; 2. active, smart, sensitive.
Chaptered fic. You are stubborn. I promise, I'd suck at it. Even when I wrote a Nano last fall, it's all one big file and I have exactly no idea how to break it into chapters.
And no, he has no fucking idea, and would probably have an extreme reaction of some sort.
Were you involved in any fandoms (or fannish activities) before HP? If so, which ones, if not, why HP? :D
Some, usenet lists, but not nearly like this. SW, ST, Deryni, uh…
What kind of music do you like to listen to, if any?
Oh, SO many kinds. Currently in the CD thing in my car:
- Guns n Roses
- School of Rock Soundtrack
- Shrek and Shrek 2 soundtracks
- Beatles
- Nickelback
- Maroon 5
- Classical compilations by composer, one Italy one Germany one USA
- a handful of other soundtracks and various artists type things
Radio might be on the headbanging station or the top 40 at any given time, unless I'm listening to a ballgame. I like many bands/groups/artists/whatever, just about any genre of pop-rock-etc, up to and including Britney (shut up. Bimbo, but with catchy songs) and Eminem (shut up. Horse's ass, again with the catchy). Madonna, Aerosmith, Eagles, Elton John, Elvis, Metallica, ACDC, B52s, REM, U2, and even the occasional boyband (shut up. Again again with the catchy).
It would be easier to answer this by ruling out. I don't so much listen to Opera, Earth, Wind and Fire (to the husband's chagrin as they are his far and away favorite), or much instrumental jazz.
Also, more than likely the radio/CD player in the car is car-shakingly loud. My kids almost always tell me to turn it down when they get in the car. Yep.
