I am watching a *truly dreadful* SciFi original movie.
DB Sweeney is a soldier. Danica McKellar is a model (in a bikini, mostly, so far). Together, they fight crime seek evidence of the alien invasion that is the cause of global warming, against the orders of the military that doesn't want to believe it.
There is a creationist Christian on the research team, and an alien that isn't exactly as removed from the one Kirk fights in Arena as one might hope for 40 years of tech improvement.
