Drabbles and a double-drabble

For aidenfire, more or less, because she wants drabbles and prompts.

He'd always known the man's name.

Well. It seemed like always. Remus fingered his scar and wondered whether he was strong enough to do this, then straightened. It was, quite simply, necessary.

Still, it occurred to him again that Greyback was a fool. One of these days, one of the many he'd turned, unwilling to tolerate his presence, was going to kill him. It seemed inevitable, and yet he encouraged them all to stay..

That decided it.

If the end of the war came, and he was still here, he'd do it himself. Stopping Voldemort was the only overriding concern.

The exact terms hadn't been clear. "Cissy"--and Merlin, she'd got whiny and childish to suit the name, since Lucius had gone--hadn't explained, and Draco wasn't saying.

But truly, this was merely fulfillment of an older vow, one, in fact, upon which he placed higher personal value; after all, his own life had been forfeit for fifteen years.

Still, It was one thing to formally vow, at twenty-two, to be the one. It was quite another to fulfill that vow. He felt his face twist, a hateful, necessary snarl. Certainly, he couldn't let loose the sob in his chest.

Luna didn't keep the coin in her pocket still because she expected it to glow hot against her thigh, announcing a meeting of the Army. Harry had said there wouldn't more, and while there were certainly ways in which Harry was deluded, she'd never known his to be dishonest. He'd have said, if he'd changed his mind.

No, the coin went in her pocket anew each day because it was a sort of talisman. A reminder of having been part of the group. It was habit now, dropping it in, left front pocket, solid and comfortable there.

When it heated, she first looked for an unexpected sunbeam falling just so on her leg, but no, that wasn't it. Oh! She slid her hand into fetch it out. Now, it said. Well. That was clear enough.

Hermione and Ron were there before her, of course, and they gave her a bit of something to drink. Liquid luck, they said.

Ordinarily, Luna didn't think she needed luck, but for Harry, for being part of the group, for the sake of the talisman and what it meant, she drank her portion, and charged ahead.

It was a horrible night, but she was needed.

Also, clearly there are a few points in HBP on which I am currently fixated. Last night, I wrote two other drabbles, ALSO HBP-COMPLIANT: at lupin100 (on very much the same general topic as the Lupin one above; Breaking Point), and a snape100 (No Explanation Given).
