Would some explain to me what the point of making icons with text that either:

A. Is sooooo tiiiiiiny (like, in the range of 1-4 point, I reckon), or
B. Sooooo closely matches background in color, or
C. Is in suuuuuch a bizarre/loopy/broken font

that no one but the maker can possibly have any idea what it says, is?

Thank you.

/bitch.

I don't think it's there to be read; I think it's just another design element, like a brush or a layer, used for balance. Most icon makers don't even say anything in that text--it's just blah blah blah.

...except my eyes recognize it as text and thus want to read it. Annoys the living hell out of me. If it's just for design, why not use non alpha elements?

That tiiiiiiiiiiiny text drives me freaking nuts. I wish they'd just make a line if that's what they want. But my icon making friends and I have had to agree to disagree on that one, because they think I'm ridiculous for thinking that.

eurgh. yes. i probably have a few, maybe, just because i really liked the image or overall feel, but when i make them i try to make them readable on my screen (which means that should be readable to the rest of the world, as everythign is verreh verreh tiny on my monitor).

at the very least, i wish people who posted them to use would SAY what was on them, so many at least it could be included in the comments if the icon was used.

I can understand it if it's in a swirly font and used as backgrouns, cause that looks pretty... but otherwise... eh. Sorry I have no explanation either, although I think I read one somewhere once. *scratches head*

It's there to give texture :x *hates too tiny to read text unless it's behind able to read text*
