Character Information
Name: Aeris Gainsborough
Fandom: Final Fantasy VII
Age: 23
Gender: Female
Occupation: Nurse
Personality:
Aeris is kind, dedicated and sad, though she does a very good job at not showing the latter. She is an eternal optimist, despite the turns her life had taken. She believes that everyone deserves a second chance, an opportunity to be a good person, to change. She approaches people (staff and patients alike) with the utmost kindness, and never judges people beforehand. She understands and truly believes that it is better to be nice to someone who needs help than scold them. This is how she approaches patients, even using her kindness to the point of mild manipulation, if only to help those in need.
Despite her desire to make people happy, Aeris is not a push over. She can hold her own ground when being kind just doesn't work, though she would rather not have to get forceful. She is mentally very strong, which is why she isn't a patient but staff. She had her own share of problems, but handled them on her own, getting stronger because of it.
History: Aeris was born in the slums, raised by only her mother. Her small family never had much money, and they lived the best they could. Her mother worked three jobs, and Aeris herself sold flowers ever since she was first able to really walk and talk on her own. Living on the streets, she saw so many things that would normally harden a girl her age to the point of trauma, but the trauma manifested differently in her. It made her care for the victims, made her want to help more than anything else. When Aeris was 13, she was attacked on the street and almost raped. She was rescued by a military recruit around her age, who she saw many times after that. The two of them fell in love and they gave themselves to each other entirely for years. With his help, she had gotten herself a better paying job, saving any money that wasn't needed to help support her family so that she could eventually go to vocational school after graduating from the free schooling she had gotten living in the slums (though she never did graduate due to future events). When Aeris was 17, she discovered that the military was experimenting on her now fiance. Being the brave street girl that she was, she tried to find a way to talk to those in charge. Instead of getting anywhere with it though, she found herself in trouble. She was followed by the military, and that was the last thing she remembered for two years. Starting from being followed by the military, there is a two year gap in her memory. She vaguely remembers the feeling cold, and occasionally has nightmares that she can't remember the details of, but over the years the nightmares have been occurring less and less. After the two year gap, she found herself far from home, without her fiance or family, and with both enough money for school and a c-section scar. She found her family again, who had no idea where she had gone for the last two years. At 19, She got her GED and used the money she now had to go to nursing school. It was there that she decided she wanted to work with the mentally unwell. Ravenshold Hospital is her first real job as a nurse.
Symptoms: Aeris is a nurse, so isn't officially diagnosed with anything. A few years prior she would have been worthy of being a patient due to post traumatic stress and amnesia, but now, 4 years later, she has stabilized herself for the most part, with the occasional nightmare and motherly hormonal reaction being the only things really seriously affecting her.
Examples
Roleplay: The walls were so clean, so very white. Aeris was so used to shades of grey and brown, even the occasional red brick. Even while in school, the walls hadn't been so very white. She had expected it, having been in hospitals before, but there was still something exciting about such pristine walls. It really was a new beginning. She had worked hard to get where she was, struggled against the odds. If only he could be there to see how far she had come, and with his help. Her smile faltered only slightly, and she brushed her bangs from her face as she made her way down the hall with medicine for specific patients in hand.
Knocking softly on the first door, she followed it with a cheery question. "Adamska? Are you awake?"
Not getting a response, she turned the handle and slowly opened the door a crack. He was fast asleep still, and she smiled to herself as she quietly closed the door. She would come back later, give him a bit longer to sleep. He was so much like a wild cat at times, and sometimes cats just needed to nap.
Journal Entry:
It really is nice here. It'll a bit chilly, but I don't mind. It is so refreshing to be somewhere clean and well maintained. I'll have to make sure any patient not allergic or violent has some flowers in their room. There's nothing like some beautiful flowers to cheer people up, even just a bit. It must be so depressing being in those rooms. Isn't the point of this place to cure things like depression? It really all seems rather counter productive to me.
I've finished my morning medication rounds, so if anyone needs me don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help after all.
