I made this yesterday. It took me about four, five hours total. It's 18x11x9 inches, and used more than a hundred stems. Admittedly proud of my work, I was looking for places to show it off. I submitted it to this group on Deviantart:
http://doctor-who-art.deviantart.com/I put it in the Artisan Crafts category, which is described as, "Artisan Crafts and Cosplay:
Any sculptures, jewelry, clothing and other things you've made to display your DW love in the physical realm."
It was declined.
http://comments.deviantart.com/4/12723281/2116142162Me: "I am confused about why my sculpture of the TARDIS was declined."
http://comments.deviantart.com/4/12723281/2116251773Them: "You may leave inquiries about your work on the submission thread itself and not here on the front page.
Personally I declined it because I don't really take a submission seriously when it's made with pipe cleaners, it's not really what I'd label artisan crafts."
http://comments.deviantart.com/4/12723281/2116342044Me: "Why should the medium determine whether a submission is to be taken seriously, rather than the skill and effort that went into making it? According to your definition on the category, which says "Any sculptures," it does qualify, right?"
http://comments.deviantart.com/4/12723281/2116365676Them: "We're not under any kind of obligation to feature everything that gets submitted into the group. If we feel that something doesn't fit well in our gallery, we are within our rights to decline it. Because two votes were needed to decline your piece, it means that we were in agreement that it should not be featured.
This would be going alone the lines of someone submitting a sketch of a TARDIS on lined paper, because it's a drawing should we accept it? There are plenty of other craft groups on dA where you could feature this. But here when we feature artisan crafts, we do look for something more substantial."
So they're comparing my sculpture to a sketch.
This is a submission that the group featured today.
