The plain fact is, her contrary nature makes Olive want to be reckless. It's not that she has no regard for her safety, not like she didn't plan to be cautious, and she knows that having Eduardo present and so concerned about her will just make her just that little bit more careful. She wants him to see there was no reason to worry, that she can take care of herself just fine, but that alone is enough to make her want to do the opposite and wreak havoc, go wild.
She won't, but she wants it. Risks, chances, a little extra danger, just to prove she can handle that, too.
For now, though, all she has to concern herself with is whether or not Jessica will protest the fact that Eduardo's with her now. Backpack slung over her shoulder, she heads for their appointed meeting spot, gesturing behind herself toward him. "So I picked up a stray."
