Au revoir, 2006! Bonjour 2007!

Dec 31, 2006 22:36

Well, I can't say I'm terribly sad that the year is over. I'm looking forward to a fresh start. So while everyone else is partying (including my father) I am baking for tomorrow's festivities and drinking fun things like chocolate milk with Kahlua and Sunny Delight with tequila. It feels so good to be reunited with the love of my life (tequila) again. It could be worse, but I'm not having that bad of a time. Me + alcohol = good fun. And just because I feel like taking up a big chunk of your friend space, here is a survey. (By the way Bex, have you heard from Jon?)

1. What did you do in 2006 that you had never done before?
I quit my job, left the country, graduated from high school, started college, and got drunk.

2. Did you keep all of last years resolutions?
I don't think I made one last year. I usually do, but last year I decided not to.

3. Have you any resolutions for next year?
Bring my grades up...yikes...

4. What countries did you visit?
Canada

5. What would you like to have in 2007 that you didn't have in 2006?
Better grades would be fantastic. Also, a job at the Auditorium would be fabulous. A boyfriend wouldn't be so bad either.

6. What date in 2006 will remain etched in your memory?
May 10-12 (Canada) June 4 (graduation) and...well, that's probably about it. I'd actually probably like to forget most of this year.

7. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I honestly have no idea. I don't really achieve a whole lot anymore.

8. What was your biggest failure?
There are entirely too many to pick from.

9. Did you suffer any illness or injury?
I had the flu a couple of times, and my bronchitis came back in February. I thought I was schizophrenic for a week or two, my depression fluctuated, and my anxiety came back now and then. Mostly I was alright I guess.

10. What was the best thing you bought?
My laptop, even though it's kinda on the sucky side, has been useful, so probably that. And The Breakfast Club, because I love it so much.

11. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
My father's more than anyone, at times my little sister, Matt's sometimes, occasionally some of my other friends, but for the most part they were pretty awesome.

12. Where did most of your money go?
Laundry. Ugh.

13. What did you get really really really excited about?
BEN FUCKING FOLDS!!!!!!!!!!!

14. What songs will always remind you of 2006?
Nickelback-"Photograph", "Alouette" and that dumb song about the wolf that we sang in French.

15. Compared to this time last year are you:
[a] Fatter or thinner? Probably thinner. I gain weight when I live at home, but when I live in a dorm, I tend to lose weight (which is great.)
[b] Happier or sadder? At this exact moment, probably sadder. In general, I'm happier.
[c] Richer or poorer? Richer. I never had money, and right now I have Christmas money, and I'm ok.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Socialized with people I didn't know a little more, socialized with people I do know a little more, gone to class a little more, been nicer to people and controlled my heart a little better.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Sitting alone in my room, crying alone in my room, and probably just being alone in general.

18. How will you be spending Christmas?
Christmas is over, dearies.

19. Which LiveJournal/Opendiary users did you meet for the first time?
Technically, I physically met Matt for the first time this year, but we started talking junior year.

20. Did you fall in love in 2006?
I momentarily thought I was, but I just liked him a lot.

21. How many one night stands?
Um, none. I'm not the slutty type. Well, not usually :P

21a. How many different people did you sleep with in 2006?
I slept by my lonesome every night this year :( Unless you count my stuffed rabbit, Stephanie.

22. What was your favourite TV show?
Grey's Anatomy, The Office, Scrubs, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, and Saturday Night Live. Yeah, I probably watch too much TV.

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Nope.

24. What was/were the best books you read?
The da Vinci Code, Angels and Demons, The Rolling Stone Illustrated Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
I rediscovered Regina Spektor, which was awesome, and I got into Panic! At The Disco, The Producers soundtrack, the Plain White Ts and Death Cab For Cutie.

26. What did you want and get?
I got my laptop, but I paid for most of it. I got some shoes that I wanted, although in a different color than I originally wanted. That's prett much it...I try to avoid wanting things to avoid the disappointment of not getting them.

27. What did you want and not get?
A lot of things. And Matt. But I don't want Matt anymore, so it no longer matters.

28. What was your favourite film this year?
I saw Super Troopers for the first time (which I loooooooved) and Over The Hedge was totally adorable (but at this point, I'm not sure if it came out this year. I'm actualyl thinking it came out at the end of summer 2005. I could be wrong. I just can't remember right now. I don't get the chance to see a lot of movies when they come out, so I pretty much just watch the same movies over and over.)

29. What did you do on your birthday and how old were you?
I turned 18 on May 21. My dad took me to see The da Vinci Code, and then I stayed home while my dad went out and did God knows what with his girlfriend. Oh-so-exciting.

A lot of things would have made it more satisfying.

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2006?
Mostly my usual wardrobe of jeans, tshirts and sneakers.

32. What kept you sane?
I'm never sane, but if anything got me closer, it would be my friends.

33. Which celebrity did you fancy the most?
Well I've always fancied Rivers Cuomo and Matt Damon (who are both most unfortunately married now) but there are a lot of total hotties roaming about.

34. Which political issue stirred you the most?
I have a problem with a lot of issues. The main issue being Republicans.

35. Who did you miss?
Since being in college, I've really missed my mama a lot, and the few friends I had at Shenandoah. When I was at Shenandoah, I missed my Acad friends, and I missed Kevin a lot until I got over him.

36. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned this year?
Never let your guard down.

37. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year...
"Even when your hope is gone, move along, move along just to make it through."
