I Guess I'll Rap on Your Door

Misaki is, as you may already know, my favorite girl--she's also my premiere HIGH END ($$$) doll expenditure. She's central to my Fashion Royalty universe as W Cosmetics' Japanese spokesmodel...

Misaki Nanahara

-Fluent in: Japanese (born and raised in Osaka; still somewhat weak in English)
-Favorite Labels: Lacoste, Miu Miu, Rag & Bone
-Likes: parfaits, pearls, leopard print anything, pop music, warm colors, roasted yams
-Dislikes: red meat, pork, raw vegetables, big dogs, getting wet, sleeping in the dark, having to introduce herself to others in English

Formerly a loud-mouthed mago-gyaru from Osaka, Misaki graduated to style icon status her second year of high school when she was discovered by Veronique at a train station. Veronique, on business, spotted Misaki with her gyaru-sa, as she was imitating a billboard of Vanessa, spot-on. What amazed Veronique the most was Misaki (although hamming it up) didn't even have to feign emotion--she could see it flashing in her eyes. Of course, it was all in fun for Misaki, and while she lived for style, it never occurred to her that fashion and modeling were something she could actually pursue as a profession, especially in Osaka. Misaki was impressed by Veronique's wonderful Japanese, but for a woman so poised and so bold to approach her--speaking nearly perfect Tokyo-style Japanese no less--instantly won over her admiration.

Mittan (as her friends call her) has a slight temper, and is prone to brattiness and pouting fits if she isn't able to get her way, but she's by no means a diva...not even close. She is quite amazed by the world Veronique brought her into, and is more times than not awestruck by the industry she's quickly becoming an icon within. The language barrier keeps her from being close with the girls of W, but she's learning and forming bonds with some of the others. She stays true to her Osaka roots, is pleased by simple pleasures and lives as modest a lifestyle a supermodel can live. Like Veronique said to her one night as they were having dinner in Kobe: "Be lovable, adorable, loved and adored, but fame is fire, it'll burn a wicked hole in your heart." The young Misaki has been staunch in heeding Ms. Perrin's advice ever since.

Misaki reigns supreme as Japan's high-end ad campaign queen (the crown jewel being her W work), but her title is being threatened by the meddling Erin Salston and the evil Momoko of Japan's Se/Vo Models. Since the fall of Missima, Misaki's popularity has skyrocketed to idol status. She's been courted for numerous drink brands, cell phone companies and has even been offered to host a popular night time music show. She's even been made into a limited edition doll in her own likeness! In this, her loyalty to Veronique is steadfast and she has declined many offers to keep her schedule clear. She's not in it for the money, clearly, but she needs never to worry--W gives her more than she'll ever need.

Sorry these pictures are kinda shitty. I lurve her 'fit, but the weather's been intolerable for a decent photoshoot. Also, my new place doesn't have any little nooks for proper dolly pics. I guess I'll have to spring for a backdrop and some new lamps. Or whatever. Blah.
