[Ah, another beautiful summer day in Mayfield.  Lyon's trying to shake off some bad feelings from a couple of days ago, and what better way to do that than bringing a puppy home, right?  Right.  So she can be found in various places today.]

[Hawkeye would probably never admit it, but she really was a dog person, and seeing a puppy wandering about stopped her long enough to want to introduce herself. Possibly for the sole purpose of petting the dog, not that she'd ever admit this.]

Good afternoon.

Oh, hello!

[Lyon smiles over at Riza, kneeling down for a moment and making little clicking noises to get the puppy to come to her side.]

[She smiles at the girl, and then looks down at the puppy. The smile widens, slightly.]

He is very tiny, how old is he?

[float_like_a]

Just a few months. He was the runt of the litter.

[Smiling affectionately at the puppy and patting him on the head.]

[snipingmissy]

[Hawkeye smiles.]

I see. My dog at home I believe was also the runt of the litter, he was no bigger than this when I first took him in.

[float_like_a]

Oh, you had a dog too? What was his name? I haven't thought of one for him yet.

[Letting the pup nip at her fingers.]

Black Hayate.

If you let him nip at your fingers too much, it will be difficult to teach him that he shouldn't do it in the future, when his teeth are much sharper.

[She crouches to be at the puppy's level.] May I pet him?

[float_like_a]

I didn't think about that...

[Lyon pulls her hand away, gently pushing the pup's face away when he tries to go back to what he was up to.]

No.

[And then she looks back to Riza, wondering if she did that right.]

Of course you can! He's very friendly.

[snipingmissy]

[She smiles, genuinely.] Exactly like that. This way, he knows what he isn't permitted to do.

[With permission, she holds her hand out for the puppy to sniff before gently scratching his head.] He is very friendly. What's his name?

[Lyon smiles down at the puppy, who seems to be enjoying the attention.]

I haven't thought of one yet. I was thinking I'd wait until I get him home and see what everyone else thinks.

[snipingmissy]

[She laughs, scratching the puppy's ears.] I've been told I have horrible taste in choosing a pet's name, so I suppose I'd probably do the same.

[float_like_a]

It's the least I can do, since I'm sort of springing him on them. But I think they'll be okay with it.

[Puppy is now leaning into her hand.]

Ah--yes, that seems fair.

[So much happy, she's glad the puppy is happy with the attention.]

I don't believe we've met before. I'm Riza Hawkeye. [She tilts her head up so she can see the girl, but doesn't move from being able to pet the puppy.]
