So, for specific tropes for this one I will rec ships with a canon scene that matches, and this time it's the scene where Laura tries to convince the team to go and watch Rita's movie retrospective to lift her mood.
Seems fluffy? It's absolutely not. Laura - Madame Rouge - used to work for the Bureau of Normalcy and look for superhuman who could be used as weapons. As she protected and nurtured the ones who couldn't (including an amnesiac, time displaced Rita) she thought herself quite good. Unless she had to sacrifice even these ones, including Rita's boyfriend.
After they're travelled again in current times, Laura wants redemption, and she wants Rita's friendship again, and Rita isn't ready to give her either, and their interactions are heavy and make us feel bad for both, and still, there's strange UST between them, especially in Laura's side, even if it's often blurred with guilt.
(The scene about is all about guilt, especially after she almost accidentally took her role as team leader)
I wanted something from this ship, but on the other hand I totally understand writers not wanting to give a "you can get the girl by killing her boyfriend" message. We'll still have fanfic...
