Today I have a roleplaying game!
And I wanted to share one of the epic reveals of this campaign. One of the characters was adopted by the circus as a kid. She never knew her real parents.
When unknown people started to track her, and we started to discover that some of them wanted to put back the old royal line on the throne (replaced by puppet princes by the local colonialists) and some of them absolutely wanted to keep the puppet princes, we were all thinking, hmm, maybe her mother is the last descendant of the royal line, the one who was murdered.
When she was close to be discovered by the colonialists, one of them betrayed her country to free her, and she had exactly the same eyes, and we were thinking, were we wrong? Is she Syanni's father?
Finally we found someone who says he knows her past, we ask the question of who is the mother.
Yes, both of them.
Yes, they were in love.
How, asks the sorcerer of the group. The GM, smiling, asks him to roll for lore, which he superbly wins, and the GM answers: you know the flesh-shaping demons? The ones you could have learned how to summon but it was not useful and not your aesthetic? Yes you remember their flesh-shaping can give kids to people who couldn't biologically conceive.
And it was one of the better reveals of the campaign (the most striking? probably not. The most striking that had been building for years and was not followed with immediate worry about the future, but rather joy? You bet!)
