In your own space, rec a fanwork (fic, art, vid, playlist, anything!) you did not create.
And here it will be my chance to do my top 10 fics read in 2021, that I usually post on
amours_de-fans.
jainas, and others, if you want to make it too...
Bleach
Consider me/ as one who loved poetry/ and persimmons by hapaxlegomena (3342 words, OS)
On a withered branch
A crow is perched -
Autumn evening
(Basho)
I used to ship Gin/Kira a lot, but I haven't read a lot of fics about them recently. This one had an interesting plot, centered about writing poetry and traditional Japan, and I really love how it's written, how the author makes Kira kind of a poetry nerd, why Gin is both scary and attractive from his PoV.
Doctor Who
Carried Too Far by Andraste (6400 words)
Forced intimacy clichés are no match for the Doctor. (Most of the time.)
I summarize this fic with "the Doctor, his companions, and all that didn't make them do it". All the tropes, and every time, it ends up kinda gen. It's hilarious, not only because it's a parody, it wouldn't be enough to keep entertained, but also because the situations are funny by themselves, and the author is really good at capturing what males the dynamics between the Doctors and companions different.
The Good Place
Transposition by Karios (300 words)
Tahani is content, well, nearly content. She just owes one last favor to a friend.
A very heartwarming short story (friendship!) about what happens to Tahani after the end of the show.
Haikyuu!!
a million times along the way by starsqwub (38382 words, chap 10/12)
“I feel like it’s been a long time, Akaashi.”
The perfect slow burn fic for people like me who are disappointed that Bokuto and Akaashi aren't closest at the end of the manga. Bokuto's character study is deep, I love what the writer does with ADHD, the manga-writing metaphors are cool, and the characters are adorable despite the misunderstandings.
even if you're ahead for a bit, i will catch up by ghostpot (4722 words, OS)
Kuroo first confesses when they're sticky-fingered, wide-eyed kids, and subsequently every day after that. Kenma takes a while to come around.
I love how this author writes Kuroo/Kenma, the characters are so exactly themselves, and it's so nice and happy to read. <3
The Magnus Archives
The Kelpie by Gammarad (1666 words, OS)
Statement of Robert Grigsby concerning his encounters with creatures, and certain disappearances
This is a gift for me that mixes my love for TMA original statements and my love for fantastic creatures. This Kelpie as a Buried monster works so well, and is genuinely terrifying.
hey brother what you thinking (leave that old record spinning) by Did
Melanie takes a deep breath and decides that she is going to be a normal person about this. She’s not a total bloody basket case. She is completely capable of making small talk with a vaguely creepy stranger in a bar without flipping her lid. "What kind of music do you play?"
He laughs again, like she’s making a joke. "You've heard it."
Melanie deliberately unclenches her jaw. "...no. I haven't."
He leans in closer, like he's sharing a secret. He smells like iron. "You're hearing it right now."
Melanie meets Alfred Grifter and they're both deliciously written.
Mo dao zu shi
i’m just the words, you are the sound by voidknight (7192 words, OS)
“You can talk,” says Wen Ning. “Or-or I can talk. Whatever you want.”
Wei Wuxian licks his lips. He squeezes Wen Ning tighter. “You said you’ve always imagined doing this with me. Ah, spooning, that is. Do you wanna tell me about some other things you’ve imagined?”
Wen Ning shares his old fantasies about Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian is into it.
OK I love this ship, especially as pining, and this fic has the glorious combination of pining during smut, exactly the mix for me. I'm very biased here.
so take me back to your temple by gloriousmonsters (6088 words, OS)
Wen Ning gets a reward for his hard work.
(or, remember how in the book Wei Wuxian feeds some blood to some animated paper puppets as a reward? Yeah.)
More Wen Ning pining, but this kind with blood drinking that's both hot and interesting at a necromancy worldbuilding level. All that I want (oh and here too. Both pining and smut. I'm very happy)
Wandavision
Bright Artificial Girls by scioscribe (2576 words, OS)
Wanda has Agnes come out to the cabin. She wants one thing from her. She gets everything.
A fic written for me, so I'm biased! It has all the delicious mindfuck between Wanda and post-canon, "Agnes", with even a bit of twisted fluff, but mostly twisted smut. ^^ And it's very good.
Fullmetal Alchemist
Hear me talk of sin (and you know this is it) par liuanne (9788 mots sur ffnet, OS)
